🚨Your community needs you as a Parish Councillor🚨

Pill and Easton-in-Gordano Parish Council currently has six vacancies for parish councillors. The council has fifteen seats in total. The current number of councillors mean that it is getting more difficult to represent all of the needs of the community.

We urgently need suitably qualified people to step forward and apply to become parish councillors. This is a voluntary role, but it is a very rewarding one, as councillors have a direct impact on the quality of life for all people who live and work in the parish.

The main qualifications to be a councillor are:

➡ To be at least 18 years of age.
➡ Either live in the parish (or within three miles of the parish boundary), have their main place of employment in the parish or to own land or property in the parish.

As a councillor you will help gather data and make decisions on things such as:

🌳 Improving access to play, recreation and sporting facilities.
🚆 Transport matters (including the railway).
🏠 How housing will change the parish.

If you care about the quality of life in the parish where you live or work, then please consider joining our committed and dedicated team of councillors. For further information please contact the Parish Clerk by emailing [email protected]

ROADWORKS UPDATE: MARTCOMBE ROAD

North Somerset Council will begin work on 9 April to remove diseased ash trees. The road will remain open throughout this period.

To ensure the work is completed safely, the following measures will be in place:

1. Lane Rearrangements: Traffic lanes will be shifted to create a safe work zone.

2. Traffic Lights: Temporary signals will operate where required to manage vehicle flow.

3. Reduced Speed Limit: A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) is in effect to lower the speed limit for the safety of the workforce.

While these measures are necessary for the protection of the teams on site, we anticipate some delays and advise allowing extra time for your journey.

Big thank you to the people of Pill! North Somerset Council is now recommending that Pill Library stays open as a council-run service under Option B — thanks to the incredible response during the consultation. Special recognition goes to the Friends of Pill Library group, whose tireless work raising awareness and encouraging people to have their say helped build such strong community support. We’re not quite there yet (Cabinet decision 11 Feb, Full Council 24 Feb), but this is very encouraging.

The Bus Hub improvements mean it is time to say goodbye to the old bollards. We would like to thank everybody that helped to brighten these up as part of the precinct improvement works after COVID. Unfortunately they are not likely to survive the removal process. You can still see them in their original glory on the YouTube Video of the original project https://youtu.be/1xppjRBvo3I

LAST CHANCE – consultation closes 5 pm TOMORROW (Friday 12 Dec) The Parish Council has today published our full, formal objection to the 1,100-home “strategic location” plan for Pill & Easton-in-Gordano (Policy LP4). We are asking North Somerset Council to delete the policy completely and go back to the modest, local-needs growth set out in our Neighbourhood Plan. You can read the detailed reasons and all the evidence here:
https://peig-pc.gov.uk/news/formal-response-to-north-somerset-local-plan-2041-pill-easton-in-gordano-parish-council

If you can spare time, please send your own comment before tomorrow’s deadline. https://n-somerset-pp.inconsult.uk/PubVers/consultationHome

Your comment doesn't have to match the Parish Council's - it's your voice that counts.

(Top tip: write it in a Word doc first – the form can time out!)
Every single response counts.
Thank you for helping protect our village.Pill & Easton-in-Gordano Parish Council

Your views needed urgently!
Pill & Easton-in-Gordano is now a “Strategic Development Location” in the new North Somerset Local Plan – making 1,100 homes on Green Belt sites much more likely.
Come and talk to your councillors (all views welcome!) - Whatever you think (yes, no, or anywhere in between) please come and tell us:
Drop-in: Tuesday 9 Dec, 7-9 pm, Memorial Club
Or email the Clerk by Wed 10th.
