Term 5 at Cashmore Early Years Centre has been bursting with planting and growing! 🌱🐛🍓

The children have been planting beans, peas and cress, exploring natural materials with magnifying glasses, hunting for bugs and plants in the garden, reading brilliant books including Jasper's Beanstalk, Titch and Superworm, and welcoming Claudia from Children's Kitchen to help plant strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, peas and celery.

Coming up in May's newsletter from Cashmore Early Years Centre you can read about a wonderful run of celebrations across both age groups, with the children throwing themselves into activities for both Eid and Easter with real enthusiasm.

In Hippo and Giraffe Groups the two-year-olds have been creating glittery classroom decorations, decorating biscuits with icing, making chocolate Easter nests, designing Easter eggs with tissue paper, and enjoying both Eid lift-the-flap books and Spring and Easter stories.

In Zebra and Tiger Groups the three-year-olds have been busy with an impressive range of creative activities including salt dough stars pressed with sparkly gems, henna pattern designs, loose parts art, and the beautiful book Golden Domes and Silver Lanterns for Eid, followed by salt dough Easter eggs, chocolate nests, and a brilliantly creative egg hunt in which all sixteen hidden eggs were found — including one inside a welly boot!

You can also read about the Big Brush Club toothbrushing scheme and the excellent feedback recently received, including the news that a free toothbrush and toothpaste pack will soon be coming home, as well as information about the family photo boards, the reception library, summer safety guidance, snack and plant donations, and important details about preparing for the move to primary school in September.

Cashmore Early Years Centre had the most wonderful Eid celebration last term! 🌙✨

Tiger, Zebra, Giraffe and Hippo Groups all came together for music, dancing and delicious food, with the classrooms looking absolutely magical lit up with fairy lights and all of the children's beautiful decorations. A huge thank you to all the families who donated food and money.

Tiger and Zebra Group at Cashmore Early Years Centre have had the most fantastic few weeks celebrating Eid and Easter! 🌙🐣✨

From glittery Eid decorations, henna designs and saltdough stars, to chocolate nests, painted Easter eggs and an egg hunt with one egg hidden in a welly boot, the children have been absolutely brilliant. Sixteen eggs found — every single one!

Giraffe and Hippo Group at Cashmore Early Years Centre have been celebrating in style last term! 🌙🐣

Local SEND support sessions are taking place at Wellspring Family Hub on Wednesday 20 May 💛 These one-to-one appointments with SEND and You offer advice on SEN support, EHCPs and related education questions and may be helpful for parents and carers from St Philip's Marsh Nursery School and Cashmore Early Years Centre. Hippo and Giraffe Group at Cashmore Early Years Centre have been incredibly busy this term! 🚒🐷✂️

The children have been building fine motor skills with tweezers, threading, nuts and bolts and scissors, exploring vehicles and learning about people who help us, joining in with the Three Little Pigs, and singing counting songs like Five Little Ducks. So much wonderful learning packed in!

Zebra and Tiger Group at Cashmore Early Years Centre have had a brilliant Term 4 exploring patterns and rhyme! 🎶🟡🔵

The children have been making ABCABC patterns using peg boards, threading and cubes, matching rhyming objects, spotting rhymes in stories like Hippo Has a Hat, and singing Twinkle Twinkle Chocolate Bar with great enthusiasm. So much fun and so much learning!

Cashmore Early Years Centre had the most wonderful World Book Day celebration! 📚🧸

The children arrived in their pyjamas with a favourite book and cuddly toy, spent the day exploring lots of different stories, chatting about their favourite books and characters, and even began learning about the different parts of a book. The cosiest and most brilliant day!

Starting Reception with SEND can feel like a big step for families 🌱

Bristol Parent Carers and Bristol City Council’s Portage and Inclusion Team are running a free online session on Tuesday 7 July, 7pm to 8pm, to help parents and carers understand what to expect and how to prepare.
