The Clock Tower Sanctuary

The Clock Tower Sanctuary The Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only drop-in day centre in Brighton & Hove for young people aged 16-25 experiencing homelessness. Thank you for your support.

It's our mission to work with young people experiencing homelessness to help them to move from crisis to stability. The Clock Tower Sanctuary is a day centre providing information and guidance for 16-25 year olds experiencing homelessness. We are open 5 days per week providing a friendly, bright, centrally-located, safe space for young people to engage with their peers and other visiting agencies.

We provide Crisis Support to help young people with their immediate, essential needs, including food, showers and medical support. Our Move-On Support enables young people to unlock their potential and make positive, lasting change. It includes Life Skills courses, 121 support and interactive activities, such as our weekly Men’s & Women's Group. The average life expectancy for a male rough sleeper is 47 years old - 43 for women. We aim to do everything we can to prevent our young people from becoming part of that statistic. If you would like to volunteer, make a donation or do some fundraising then please check out our website.

We want to say a big THANK YOU to longtime supporter and fundraiser Helen for this supersized donation of underwear! Instead receiving gifts of her own, Helen collected urgently needed items from our monthly at her birthday get-together at The Neptune Inn. Donations like these make a massive difference in the lives of young people experiencing homelessness in our city, and it’s acts of kindness and generosity like these that keep our day centre running. Thank you so much.

“The volunteers are always really nice. The fact that they don’t have to be here, that they choose to be here, that feels special. It’s not necessarily more special than the way the staff members help, but it’s special in a different way. Sometimes, you get to know the volunteers, you disappear for a while, you come back, and you see loads of new faces, but they’re always just as supportive, like they’ve known you since day one as well." - Brandon, 24 (he/him)

Just by showing up and being themselves, our volunteers make such a big difference in the lives of the young people we support. In addition to cooking meals and running activities, our volunteers provide invaluable emotional support for young people who are homeless, helping to create a safe environment where everyone feels welcome and accepted. Thank you to all our volunteers for making our young people’s voices heard, respected, and valued 💙

We’re shining an extra bright spotlight on the volunteers go above and beyond to support young people who are homeless in our city. Whether it’s climbing mountains, conquering marathons, or sleeping out in the wind and rain, so many of our volunteers do remarkable things to raise funds for our day centre.

“I’ve always wanted to run a marathon, and to do it for CTS, where I volunteer also, made it extra special. I see the investment and good work that CTS provides for young people and am grateful for the support CTS gave me before, during, and after the marathon. It was a great day with wonderful people, runners, and supporters alike.” – Thomas, CTS volunteer and marathoner.

Last year, our fundraising events brought in more than £40,000 provide support, services, and a safe space for young people facing homelessness in our city. Feeling inspired? Click below to sign up for one of our amazing fundraisers today and make a BIG difference in our city 💙

Five days a week, our superstar volunteers prepare healthy hot meals using food that’s been donated to our day centre. Last year, our volunteers prepared more than 5,000 hot meals for young people who were homeless in Brighton & Hove. We’re endlessly proud to provide free and delicious meals at CTS, and it’s our absolutely amazing volunteers who make it happen! Thank you!!! 🥳

“Whether it’s having a chance to cook a client’s favourite meal, such as katsu curry, or to learn a key skill/recipe, like bolognese, it’s been a great chance to hang out together and try something different. A lot of our clients hadn’t had experience cooking, and I feel they were pleasantly surprised by how adaptable and enjoyable it can be. There’s a lot of satisfaction in cooking a nice meal for yourself and making it exactly to your taste.” - Phoebe, volunteer and cooking group facilitator.

Every Tuesday afternoon, our incredible volunteer Phoebe is here to offer cooking skills and workshops for young people who are homeless in Brighton & Hove. Volunteers like Phoebe make a massive difference in the lives of young people facing homelessness in Brighton & Hove, helping with the day-to-day running of the day centre, and providing support and a friendly welcome to the young people who come here. Thank you to each and every one of our incredible volunteers this 💙

Happy ! All week long, we’ll be celebrating and shining a spotlight on the 40+ volunteers who transform our centre into a sanctuary. These extraordinary humans are the beating heart of our day centre, and, week after week, they show up at CTS for no other reason than to make a difference in the lives of young people facing homelessness.

We’re thankful beyond words to know them, spend our days with them, and witness the incredible difference they make right here in our community. We’re thrilled to be celebrating these real life superheroes all week long and louder than ever - thank you for everything you do! 💙
