Still no word from the Marine Management Organisation on Brighton Marina's dredging licence, and there's no deadline by which they have to decide. So we wait.
In the meantime, we've been weighing up what could happen. Worst case: the licence goes through exactly as applied for, no monitoring, no plan for the future. Best case: it's refused, and a proper alternative disposal site has to be found before dredging can carry on. Most likely, it'll land somewhere in between.
We were glad to meet Chris Ward, MP for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven, last month alongside Surfers Against Sewage to talk through the issue. He's keen to help find a lasting solution.
We'll keep you posted as soon as there's news to share.
