What does it mean to have agency over your own body?

Artist and composer Olivia Louvel invites you to experience In the Name, a new sound installation being developed during her Making Space residency at Fabrica.

Seven speaker-powered voice sculptures create an evolving soundscape, bringing together chant and anonymised accounts from women in the US affected by abortion bans.

Come and experience the work - then share your thoughts. Each viewing session will be followed by a short Q&A with Olivia, giving audiences a chance to respond to the work as it develops.

Wed 16 Sept, 2–3pm
Thurs 17 Sept, 6–7pm
£6 / £4 | Advance booking required
Just 15 places per session.

The work contains no graphic descriptions, but the audio may be triggering.

In the Name is supported by Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice programme.

Fabrica and The Sussex Contemporary are delighted to announce Unfold - our second UK-wide judged open call for contemporary artists, following the success of Resonance in 2026.

We’re inviting artists at any stage of their career, working in any medium, to respond to the theme Unfold - exploring ideas of change, discovery, becoming, transformation, memory, resilience and renewal.

We’re looking for thoughtful, imaginative and unexpected responses, with an interest in the processes, stories and experiences behind the work.

We’re so close! Just £100 to go… 🙌

We need one more local business to pledge £100 and become a Campaign Partner for our Big Give Christmas Challenge 2026 – before the deadline on 28 August!

By pledging £100, you’ll help create the match funding that means every public donation to Fabrica during the campaign can be doubled – helping us raise even more to support creativity, connection and belonging across Sussex.

As we celebrate 30 years of Fabrica, we’d love one final local business to join the four businesses already supporting our campaign and help make this milestone year our biggest Christmas campaign yet. ❤️

Could your business help us get there?

Find out more about becoming a Campaign Partner at fabrica.org.uk/support-us or send us a message – we’d love to hear from you!

Last week, we began photography workshops as part of Lines of the Weald 📷🌿

Supported by facilitators Phoebe Wingrove and Anthony Stevens, the workshops invite participants to challenge how they see and respond to the outdoors. Through playful activities, they’ll explore the elements of photography while capturing and visualising their experiences of Tilgate Park.

Funded by the High Weald Nature and Community Fund and delivered by Fabrica, Lines of the Weald is a creative mental health programme for men in Crawley who may not otherwise engage with the High Weald landscape.

The programme adapts Fabrica’s established Men Who Make model, using small-group, shoulder-to-shoulder creative activity to support men experiencing low mental health, isolation, homelessness or periods of life transition.

Over the course of the project, participants will explore photography, creative writing, sculpture and collaborative map-making, connecting their own experiences, memories and identities with the landscapes around them.
