Meet our newest recruit Leslie! 🚒

He said: “Working as a pilot launch coxswain, I’m used to operating in high-pressure environments where clear communication, teamwork and quick decision-making are essential.

"A lot of the skills I use every day, from risk assessment to staying calm in unpredictable situations, are directly transferable to the role of a firefighter. It felt like a natural step for me to apply those skills in a different way and use them to support the community on land as well as at sea.”

Meet our newest recruits, Brandon and Cheryl! 🎉

They’ve both successfully completed their initial two-week intensive training course and will continue their training at the station.

By day, Cheryl works as an interior designer. Becoming a firefighter is something she’s been thinking about for years, and she finally took the leap and applied 👏

Brandon works as a mobile car valeter, fitting on-call hours around his work. He joined the fire service because he wanted to help others and give back to his community. He said he didn't realise how easy it was to apply.

Sadly we were unable to attend remembrance day this year as Brightlingsea were called to this incident in Clacton.

We feel it was definitely worth while as one of the Brightlingsea BA teams were able to rescue a Cat, who was shaken but uninjured and was soon reunited with their owner. 🐈

👀 Something unusual is happening over at Essex Fire HQ…

Let’s just say one of our most loveable team members has been caught on camera making a very daring escape! 🐻🔥

Over the next few days, we’ll need the help of families and young people to bring him home.

We caused some commotion in the community centre car park this evening. Anyone thinking there was an incident, there's nothing to worry about as it was part of our drill night!

Tonight was a vehicle rescue collaboration with Wivenhoe fire station.

To add realism, both crews were sent away from the station while the scene was set up and we then attended as if it were a real job.

Last week Brightlingsea crews were among the first at the Witham industrial warehouse fire where a total of 12 machines fought to keep this under control.

It was a long and arduous evening and successfully managed to contain the fire with no spread to adjacent buildings, whilst also protecting nearby electric and gas infrastructure.

Thankfully, no one was hurt and we even managed to save a brand new Electric vehicle from becoming part of the blaze!

Well done all crews and our Guys at brightlingsea!

Had some very curious bystanders whilst putting out a small verge fire... 🐄

We don't think they had any beef with us being there 😅, and at one point the entire herd was watching us work, including the bull! We did have one of our firefighters keeping them company whilst damping down the area after we had put the fire out.

On a serious note, there was strong evidence to suggest this may have started because of a discarded cigarette. Please dispose of responsibly as if this fire wasn't called in, it could have caused a much bigger problem!
