Brighouse High School

Brighouse High School Brighouse High School is a larger than average comprehensive school with 1365 pupils including approximately 325 in the 6th form.

The school operates on a split site with 11-16 year olds being based on the Finkil Street site and 6th formers on a separate site in the heart of Brighouse. Our learners come from four main feeder primary schools and the wider community of Brighouse and East Calderdale. An increasing number of students come to our 6th form from neighbouring schools in Calderdale and Kirklees. We are proud that our 'togetherness' as a school and a community is often recognised.

📢 Lost Property – Tuesday 8th September

We have a large amount of lost property remaining from the end of last term. The video below shows the items currently waiting to be claimed.

Tomorrow morning, students in Years 8–11 will be taken to the Small Sports Hall with their form groups and given the opportunity to look through the lost property and collect anything that belongs to them.

Please take a look at the video this evening and, if you recognise anything belonging to your child, remind them to collect it tomorrow.

Any items remaining unclaimed after tomorrow will either be added to school stock or donated to charity.

Please also help us to avoid such a large build-up of lost property by clearly naming your child’s belongings. Named items have a much better chance of being reunited with their owner!

Please note: this does not apply to Year 7 as these items are from the end of last academic year.

We are looking forward to welcoming our students back for the start of a new academic year! 🌟

📅 Thursday 3rd September – Year 12 Induction
Our new Year 12 students will begin their Sixth Form journey with their Induction Day, giving them the opportunity to get settled, meet staff and students, and prepare for the year ahead. 💜

📚 Friday 4th September – Lessons Begin
Both Year 12 and Year 13 students will begin their lessons, following their individual timetables.

Starting secondary school means becoming a little more independent. One of the best habits you can develop is learning to set your own alarm and get yourself ready for the day.

✅ Set your alarm before bed
✅ Leave enough time for breakfast
✅ Get your school bag ready the night before
✅ Take responsibility for getting up on time

We’re looking forward to seeing our students back at Brighouse High School in their full school uniform as we start the new academic year! 💜

A quick reminder to families to check that school footwear meets our uniform expectations before students return.

👞 School shoes should be:
✔️ Plain
✔️ Low heels
✔️ Solid black in colour
✔️ Leather or leather-look
✔️ Free from logos, writing or lettering

🚫 The following are not appropriate:
• Trainers, pumps or other footwear with logos/writing/lettering
• High heels
• Backless shoes or sandals
• Boots
• Canvas or fabric footwear

A huge congratulations to Oliver Goddard on his outstanding A Level results! 🎉👏

Oliver achieved an incredible A*, A, A, A in Further Maths, Maths, Chemistry & Physics – a fantastic achievement that reflects his hard work, dedication and commitment throughout his time at Brighouse Sixth Form. 📚⭐

Oliver has decided to take a gap year while he considers his options for the future. He is currently exploring the possibility of studyinga Degree in Theoretical Physics or pursuing a Degree Apprenticeship.

Whatever path Oliver chooses, we are sure he has a very bright future ahead! 🌟
