While many allergies cause mild symptoms, some can lead to anaphylaxis, a serious and potentially life-threatening reaction.

This week’s guide helps parents, carers and educators understand the warning signs and feel more prepared to support children with allergies.

The guide covers:
• Key signs of anaphylaxis
• Symptoms linked to airway, breathing and circulation
• Common food allergens, including milk, eggs, fish, peanuts and sesame
• Non-food triggers such as pollen, insect venom and medication
• The role of adrenaline auto-injectors

Clear, practical awareness can help adults respond quickly and confidently when it matters most.

Our exciting, newly upgraded nursery will open in September! Waiting lists are now open for nursery places for children who are aged 3 and over. We have 15 and 30 hour funded sessions available. We encourage families to register their interest as early as possible, as places are limited and in high demand. Image-altering filters are now embedded across social media platforms, shaping how young people present themselves and interpret the world around them.

While these tools can appear harmless, they can also contribute to unrealistic expectations, social pressure and a blurred sense of reality.

Our latest hashtag guide supports educators and parents in understanding these challenges and responding effectively.

The guide explores:
• The impact of altered beauty standards and comparison culture
• Risks linked to hidden advertising and sexualised edits
• The influence of filtered content on confidence and identity

It also provides clear, practical strategies to promote media literacy, build resilience and support healthier online behaviours.

Sandpit for OPAL Play! 👏☀️

Today we started our journey on having a huge sandpit put on to our school grounds for our children as part of our OPAL play journey. From our Tesco blue tokens funding, this has been spent on buying the sand and making the area for the children! 😊

A huge thank you to Precision Painting And Maintenance and LP Landscapes , who have dug up the area for us throughout today. Your support as a local business is greatly appreciated. We can not wait for this to be completed very soon so that our children can have lots of fun at playtimes during the rest of the spring and the summer months!! ☀️

📢 We have one more week of engagement until Friday 13 March... And then we will be working to narrow down your thoughts into three names for us to present to our Trustee Board for consideration... We are so grateful for the feedback already received, but would love to hear from a few more people ♥️... See below for the link, the what and the why 😍

✨ Help Shape Our Next Chapter ✨

Brigg Food Bank Project (which is a project run by Charity Oikos - Brigg) is growing — and we’d love your voice as part of what comes next.

Over the years, what we offer has grown far beyond emergency food parcels (see pinned post for full details ☺️). Alongside food support, we now provide:

🥕 A monthly Pantry
🥖 Community Fridge
🤝 Social & community activities
📚 Education & training
💬 Signposting and wider support

Food is often the starting point — but it’s never the whole story. Our aim is to support people towards greater stability, independence and access to affordable options, while building connection and dignity within our community.

As a project of Oikos - Brigg, we’re now exploring how our name and services better reflect what we truly do. We want our identity to feel welcoming, clear and representative of the wide range of support available. We have also included the current name too as an option if people feel like that best suits the project and services

We are proud to support anyone who reaches out. You never truly know what someone may be facing, and we are grateful when people trust us with their story. Our approach will always be rooted in compassion, respect and without judgement.

We are seeing more and more people connecting with us for a variety of reasons. The pressures of the cost of living, modern life and unexpected challenges are being felt by many, and we want to ease that burden wherever we can.

We also value our social side and strongly believe in creating a space where people feel they belong — somewhere they can come, no matter what, even if it’s simply for a coffee and a chat.

💬 Please take 2–3 minutes to share your thoughts in our short rebrand survey:

Your feedback will help shape our future and ensure our name reflects the project we are today.

Thank you for being part of Brigg ❤️
