Just some light weeding, pruning extended growth and deadheading in the garden area.

The Edges of some paths were strimmed and cleared.

A few pictures from the park over the last couple of days.

The grass on the old bowling green area is being kept nice and short. With short grass paths being maintained for access from the main pathways. Ideal for picnics, play, wildlife watching etc.

The blackbirds and song thrushes amongst others have also been enjoying the area. It seems to be giving them a chance to forage for worms with a clear view for predators from the ground.

A Big thanks to our resident lawn mower and leaf blower. 👏🏼

🦋Forgive this Painted Lady, her dress may be a bit ragged but she has travelled a long distance to get to Marsh park! 🦋

Each year, painted lady butterflies travel northwards from the Mediterranean and North Africa, recolonising mainland Europe, Britain and Ireland.
This year we are seeing good numbers of them in and around Marsh park and Lawyers field.

A few pictures from Fridays FOMPALF work.

This week we were clearing the flower beds on the steep path from the main entrance that rises next to the old bowling green.

Removing weeds, pruning extended growth and clearing the growth from the paths.

Also trying to reinstate a visible edge of the lawn/flower bed border. We're not just doing this for a tidier image, we hope it will give little (and large) explorers a noticeable edge to keep away from in this rather steep area of the park.

This is a rather large ongoing job in the park at the moment and we hope to complete it during the next few weeks in between other park maintenance.

Once the clearing is complete we are hoping to add additional plants to this area to replace the ones recently stolen.

Intended as a light hearted distraction from the current wet weather I've developed a new FOMPALF award system.
This system offers absolutely no rewards, prizes, incentives, benefits, and definitely no recompense & remuneration!

It will be voted for by an independent panel (of one) with limited knowledge and effort but plenty of enthusiasm.🙋🏼

Tuesday brought a nice mix of very British weather......
A bit of rain followed by some glorious sunshine and a gusty wind.

FOMPALF volunteers spared some time to do some weeding and maintenance to the garden area.

Friday and we were back in Marsh park.

A big thanks to the FOMPALF team. This week we were taking on the bank and tidying the path area that rises from the main entrance (on the right side) to the top of the hill. A steep challenge whichever way you look at it.

As usual, a check to make sure no nesting birds or fledglings were in the area before we started.
We did however come across a large population of bees.🐝
A great indicator for the health of the wildlife within the park.
Also a mixture of butterflies. 🦋
