Charmouth Parish Council is unique in the number of assets it owns in proportion with the population. The Parish owns the Elms, the Cemetery, the Playing Fields, the depot, the factory building and very unusually the beach between the high and low water marks.

Sadly, our Facilities Manager, Dave Humphrey passed away on Wednesday 20 May.

During nearly 10 years with us, Dave was a hardworking, loyal and valued member of our small team whose contribution and commitment will be remembered.

Dave was a proud ex serviceman and was often seen around the village with his litter picker.

His funeral will be held at St Andrew's Church, Charmouth at 12 noon on Friday 19 June.
All are welcome.

Please see this update regarding the Miles Cross roundabout from the Foundry Lea consortium.

Diversion in place Sunday night 17th May.
"Following on from our previous email on 24 April regarding the Miles Cross Roundabout works, we are now in a position to provide a further update. We have received confirmation from National Highways that improvement works at the A35 Miles Cross Roundabout can begin on Monday 18 May.

The A35 will be closed from 8pm on Sunday 17 May to allow traffic management measures to be put in place. The road will reopen at 6am on Monday 18 May. This arrangement has been agreed with Dorset Council and National Highways.

Westbound traffic will be routed via Charmouth Road, Axminster, Chard, Crewkerne and Beaminster, and eastbound traffic following the same route in reverse. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
During the works, overnight or off-peak full closures may be required, with speed restrictions and contraflow systems in place for safety and to maintain traffic movements.

We recognise work of this scale can cause disruption and we’re committed to minimising the impact on residents, businesses, and road users. We’ll maintain access for residents, businesses, pedestrian and cyclist routes, though temporary route changes may be necessary.

Where there are partial or full closures, diversions will be clearly signposted. We encourage drivers to allow extra time for travel, particularly during peak times.

The scheme is being delivered by appointed contractor, MJ Church in partnership with Core Highways and Brookbanks working on behalf of David Wilson Redrow South West and Vistry.

This improvement scheme will deliver a safer, higher-capacity junction that supports long-term traffic efficiency. We apologise for the delays in starting and thank the local community in advance for their patience and understanding while we carry out these improvement works."
