Saturday - August 1st - Loders Fete What a lovely start to August this was. It's hard to believe, but I have lived in Bridport and West Bay for 70 years and I have never had the pleasure before of attending this stunning Fete. I am told that it has been running annually for 140

Anyone can experience suicidal feelings – whatever their situation, job or background.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, and for the next few days, we’ve turned the clock yellow to encourage a shared moment, a moment to pause, check in, and support one another.

If you need support, or you’re worried about someone else, help is available. Visit mind.org.uk/suicide for information or www.samaritans.org

Locally we are lucky to have the services and support from the brilliant staff at The Harmony Centre - Bridport Dorset which can be accessed for free with no waiting list or need for a referral.

Thank you The Bridport and Lyme Regis News for the write up on the Town Crier competition during the Hat Festival on Saturday. Congratulations to Swanage's Andrew Fleming for winning best cry, Blandford Forum's Mike Lofthouse (in green) for best dressed. Verwood's David Craner won the most humorous cry, winning the John Collingwood memorial cup in honour of our former town crier.

Our town crier Jamie and deputy Bill could not take part as we were hosting, but they can do next year as the venue will be Swanage as winners of the Stanley Mansbridge Perpetual Trophy.

Bridport will remain as hosts for the John Collingwood Memorial cup so we will be able to see all the town criers in their finery every year!

Bridport’s beloved town crier who passed away this year was honoured by fellow county criers at a competition held in town
