To help Bridgwater Fair run smoothly and safely, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be in place from Monday 28 September until to Sunday4 October

Residents affected should receive a letter informing them about alternative parking arrangements.

One week to go! 🎬🍿

Just 7 days until Sing and The Greatest Showman will be screened at our FREE Outdoor Cinema on Saturday 12th September at St Matthews Field.

The event opens at 12:30pm, giving you plenty of time to get settled with your picnic blanket or camping chairs before the first film begins. Arrive early, find your spot and get ready to enjoy the magic of the big screen under the open sky.

Parking is available at St Matthews Field for just £2 per vehicle. Please use the on-site event parking and be considerate of local residents.

Our Maintenance Operative carries out regular inspections of our play parks to make sure you can swing by and enjoy a safe, fun experience.

Our team works hard to identify and fix issues, from damaged play equipment and broken benches to litter and general wear and tear.

Throughout the summer, detached youth workers commissioned by Bridgwater Town Council have been out and about across Bridgwater, engaging with young people in locations including the town centre, YMCA, Victoria Park, Sydenham, West Street, the Docks, and other popular meeting places.

Many positive conversations have taken place about school, hobbies, future aspirations, employment, wellbeing and life in Bridgwater. The service provides young people with opportunities to talk, be heard, access support and guidance and build trusted relationships with youth workers in their own communities.

The team has also been able to signpost young people and young adults to employment, training, and support services, helping them explore opportunities for the future.

Providing youth workers within the community helps ensure that support is accessible, visible, and available to young people where they spend their time.

The service will continue to work across Bridgwater, building relationships, listening to young people's voices and helping them access the support they need.

Every year for 10 days in September, Heritage Open Days brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history. It offers the public a chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.

We have an amazing programme of local events including tours of the Old Vicarage Bridgwater, Bridgwater Arts Centre, Wembdon Road Cemetery and St. Mary's Church Bridgwater, plus events hosted by Bridgwater History & Civic Society and an exclusive exhibition by Blake Museum .

Every day, millions of people across the UK are making a difference by volunteering. Each year, outstanding examples of this work are celebrated through the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS).

The window for applying for KAVS – the highest award for voluntary groups – has just opened. The Royal award recognises outstanding work by volunteer groups to benefit their local communities.

Anyone who knows the work of a group well can make a nomination through a straightforward process between September 1st and December 1st.
