Rather than waste unused laurel panel mouldings, they’ve been added to the ceiling of the blue bedroom, making the cornice even more impressive. Whilst Marc Nicholson was here he also refitted a section of the ceiling rose in the red room damaged by dry weather shrinkage.

I picked up an absolute gem today. A Regency brass fire guard with companion tool set, unusually with matching upstand supports. Thank you Facebook Marketplace again. It looks lovely in the dining room.

Also shown is a huge Brass English chandelier bought from Stuff n Nonsense, a lovely Antique Shop close to Norton Fitzwarren. We decided to replace the existing Dutch brass chandelier as it was too small.

I know you won’t believe this, but the final room has been plastered with cornice fitted. The utility floor tiles are going down today and the kitchen units have arrived. More photos to follow.

It truly feels never ending sometimes.

We’ve replaced the rotten Facia and Soffits whilst adding the original wooden details removed when the roof was replaced twelve years ago. The entire house has been repainted Cornish Cream and looks amazing. The joys of a period house!! 😵‍💫

Time to fix the front veranda due to shoddy work done by the previous owners. 😵‍💫😵‍💫

After having the garage broken into a week ago and having bikes and garden machinery stolen, we are struggling to deal with the insurance company, who are doing their best to frustrate us and avoid paying out.

Until we can resolve matters, if anyone local has a ride on mower we can use for a few hours that would be amazing. Happy to pay a hire fee.

Attached are photos of the mower stolen and bikes, just in case they are seen. Reward of £500 for information leading to the return of the bikes and mower.

It all started with an overgrown tennis court, cracked with large holes and difficult to tidy up. The original plan was to remove the tarmac and sub stone and replace with top soil and to seed. Whilst removing the unwanted material we decided to leave the section closest to the house and to build a sunken seated area. The photos attached show the process of stripping back the court, digging the hole, building the outer blockwork and stonework face of the sunken area, followed by new set of steps, a large two section stone patio with raised brick bedding areas and finally the lighting. So many people to thank as everyone played an important part in a difficult and long project (Paul Read, Grant Taylor - groundwork, Mark Wenn, Mark Hutchings from MJH Electrical, Steve Hembury - Gardner, Ryan Baxter, Keenan, George Busby from Busby’s Reclamation, Adrian Sharpe and Nigel). All we need now is some time for the grass seed and planting to mature. Roll on the summer.

A few pics I’ve taken over the last few months. Not much to update on at the moment.
The cellar is moving forward at a snails pace but hopefully we’ll have tiles down pretty soon and maybe some painted walls!!
