This is why we're so important we are the next generation and we need to get out there and show everyone that we can make a difference.

As the youth section of labour in this constituency we need you to get active and to get out there and campaign with us.

Dear Young Labour Member

We will be holding the Bridgwater & West Somerset Young Labour AGM (Annual General Meeting) on Monday 26th February at 6pm, venue to be confirmed in Bridgwater.

Please find attached an Agenda along with the constitution which was agreed at the AGM of 2017 (though this will require updating to reflect the new criteria set by Young Labour HQ to become a registered Young Labour Group which was brought in after the AGM)

Elections
As this is an AGM, people will be able to self nominate for a position on the Executive Committee, the body which runs the group. To be a registered Young Labour group, we need to have the following four officers:

• Chair

• Secretary

• Membership & Campaigns Officer

• Women’s Officer (this must be a woman)

Any interested person is therefore invited to put forward a self nominating statement declaring which position they would like to be considered for by the members. You can do this simply by sending your name and the position you are applying for to this email address. We will then get back to you to confirm your nomination.

Nominations are open now and close at midnight February 23rd 2018. (Please find details regarding elections in the Constitution document attached)

Hi everyone! Hope 2018 has started well for you all! We have our AGM coming up soon and wanted to check what dates would work? We were thinking Monday 26th February - any feedback on this would be excellent! Thank you!

The Socialist & Democrat Gender Equality Working Group of the European Parliament is organising their Third Youth Forum for Gender Equality (30 January – 1 February 2018) and our MEP Clare Moody wanted you to know about this event and hopefully then representatives from the South West could attend. Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered too! If you’re 18-25 then it’s definitely worth applying!

Step it up for Gender Equality is an interactive and inspiring initiative to promote dialogue, exchange, learning and networking for people engaged in promoting gender equality in their daily lives. Organised by the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, in collaboration with the Foundation for European Progressive Studies, PES Women, Young European Socialists, Rainbow Rose and the Global Progressive Forum.

Equality between women and men is a fundamental right recognised in the Treaty of Rome of 1957 and in the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
