⚽️ It was great to be at the opening of Bryntirion Comprehensive School new 3G Pitch last week.

This six-figure investment has transformed the facility, giving pupils, local residents, grassroots teams and sports clubs access to a high-quality pitch for years to come.

🏫A huge congratulations to the Governing Body for helping bring this project to the fore.

A great example of partnership working delivering real benefits for our communities. 👏⚽️

Good progress is being made at Porthcawl’s Grand Pavilion, bringing this much-loved landmark another step closer to a new chapter.

There is still plenty of work to do, but when complete, the Pavilion will once again be at the heart of Porthcawl, with improved community facilities and a fantastic venue for events, performances and entertainment.

For Bridgend Labour, this is about protecting the places that matter to our communities while investing in their future.

We’ve already seen what that can achieve with the transformation of Maesteg Town Hall, and now we’re doing the same in Porthcawl.

Protecting our heritage. Investing in our towns. Building for the future.

Today, we attended a ceremony marking 134 years since the Parc Slip Colliery disaster, one of the darkest days in our area’s history.

At 8.20am on 26 August 1892, an explosion tore through the colliery near Tondu, where 146 men and boys were working underground. Rescue efforts were hampered by roof falls and, although 42 miners were initially brought out alive, the final death toll was 112.

Today’s ceremony was a solemn opportunity to remember the men and boys who died, the families whose lives were changed forever, and the devastating impact the disaster had on communities across the area.

Their names and their stories remain an important part of our history.

☀️A lovely morning (especially as it was a bit cooler) conducting a street surgery in Aberkenfig and delivering my annual report.

Thank you to everyone who I spoke to today, I try and get round as often as I can to speak to as many residents as possible. If I didn’t get chance to speak to you today I’ll be back round soon.

☕️And finished off with a coffee in Ambiance Kitchen

Have a lovely weekend all 🙏

In June’s Full Council meeting we debated a motion on Free Speech and condeming violence and abuse towards elected officials. During the debate I made this plea to my colleagues.

Sadly one Councillor chooses to continue to spout hate. Being a Councillor should be about bringing a community together not sowing division.
