My thoughts are with everyone in Nepal affected by the devastating recent flooding, and with all those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods.

As a Member of the Senedd for Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd, which includes Brecon, I know the town has a deep and enduring connection with Nepal stretching back more than 50 years. The presence of Gurkha soldiers, alongside Nepalese residents and families, has enriched community life in Brecon for generations.

At this painful time, I send my deepest sympathy and solidarity to the people of Nepal, and to members of our local Nepalese community who may be worried about family and friends.

--------------------------------------------------

Mae fy meddyliau gyda phawb yn Nepal sy wedi cael eu heffeithio arnynt gan y llifogydd erchyll diweddar, a gyda phawb sydd wedi colli anwyliaid, cartrefi a bywoliaeth.

Fel Aelod o'r Senedd dros Frycheiniog Tawe Nedd, sy'n cynnwys Aberhonddu, rwy'n gwybod bod gan y dref gysylltiad dwfn â Nepal sy'n ymestyn yn ôl dros 50 mlynedd. Mae presenoldeb milwyr Gurkha, ochr yn ochr â thrigolion a theuluoedd o Nepal, wedi cyfoethogi bywyd cymunedol yn Aberhonddu ers cenedlaethau.

Ar yr adeg anodd hon, rwy'n anfon fy nghydymdeimlad dwysaf at bobl Nepal, ac at aelodau o'n cymuned Nepalaidd leol a allai fod yn poeni am deulu a ffrindiau.

For our column in the South Wales Evening Post, Rebeca Phillips AS/MS and I share what your Plaid Cymru Welsh Government is delivering for the people of Wales during the first 100 days. / Dyma ein colofn ar gyfer y South Wales Evening Post, am 100 diwrnod cyntaf Plaid Cymru mewn llywodraeth.

By the time this is published, we’ll be 70 days since Plaid Cymru won an historic victory in the Senedd election, and 64 days since our First Minister Rhun ap Iorwerth formed his government.

The reason we’re counting this in days? Because one of the pledges made by the new government was to repay people’s trust in electing a Plaid Cymru as quickly as possible.

Even before the election, Plaid Cymru laid out the plan for the first 100 days of government, and we were both proud to stand on a platform of a party that meant business from Day 1.

While the business of tackling the many issues that need improving takes longer than 100 days – indeed, you’ll be familiar with the saying ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ – there are things the Plaid Cymru Government has done immediately to make a real difference.

Within 50 days, this government had set the wheels in motion to tackle the problems in the NHS, improve transport, and give a better start to our children, to name but 3 areas of action.

For our NHS, work has already started to ensure we’re ready to meet winter pressures, and we have started work on planning the roll out of Surgical Hubs – something that will help reduce long waiting times and bring treatment closer to home.

In terms of getting Wales moving, we've announced a North to South Express coach service which will cut journey times by an hour, and negotiations have already begun with UK Government to secure fairer funding for our rail network, so we can achieve a better service for passengers.

And for our children, free school meals are being expanded to secondary schools, and the roll out of more funded childcare has begun. Giving our children the best start in life helps us all because child poverty quite literally affects the future health, well-being and prosperity of our nation.

This is a government that is committed to turning promise into immediate action for the people of Wales, with a clear focus on tackling the challenges facing all our communities.

Yesterday, your Members of the Senedd had an opportunity to increase investment in our NHS, childcare, ALN provision and more...

Only your Plaid Cymru Members, Sioned Williams AS/MS and Rebeca Phillips AS/MS voted to strengthen services that we all rely on.

Jane Dodds of the Liberal Democrats joined Reform's James Evans, Iain McIntosh and David Mills to vote against this additional investment.
