Much Ado About People began nearly 12yrs ago when I was approached by Social Services if I’d be interested in 1:1 Vocational Support, working alongside youth and adults with a learning disability. I began my social career in the late 90’s working for the North Devon Health Care Trust, Care in the Community; as a house parent for adults with learning difficulties, mental health, abuse, schizophreni

a, brain damage and visual impairment. In 1996 I worked for D.C.C as a Community Resource Worker in a day centre for 96 adults with a learning disability. My responsibilities included assessing students’ individual needs, developing and implementing a structured and varied timetable during their time at the centre. I would monitor and review each student’s progress, complete six monthly and annual reviews, in liaison with Care Managers, Occupational Therapists, parents and the students themselves.
2004, I took a 2yrs sabbatical to New Zealand, this adventure lasted 7.5 yrs…..I supported youth and adults with High Complex Needs and taught in various prisons; all broadened my life experiences, cultural and spiritual skills. I turned a 10acres farm into a working environment for clients that, due to their backgrounds were unable to work in the community. I returned to Braunton, Nth Devon in 2011 this was the start of Much Ado About People.
