❗️ Carbon monoxide kills – but you can't see it, taste it, or smell it
🔔 Install audible carbon monoxide alarms in all rooms with fuel burning appliances
🔧 Get a registered engineer to service your appliances regularly

Too many people die needlessly or become seriously ill because of carbon monoxide poisoning each year, as early symptoms can easily be mistaken for flu or tiredness.

If you experience symptoms or your CO alarm sounds:

🚪 Open doors and windows
💨 Get fresh air immediately
🏃‍♀️ Leave the house
📞 Call the emergency services
🏨Seek medical advice if feeling unwell

📣 Are you aged 13–17 and looking for a FREE way to make new friends and challenge yourself while having fun? 📣

Join the Fire Cadets – a uniformed youth organisation run by Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service which offers life-changing opportunities for young people based on citizenship, community and you.

Applications are open NOW for our next intake, scheduled to start from March 2026, with units running from the following fire stations:

▶ Barrow Fire Station
▶ Carlisle East Fire Station
▶ Millom Fire Station
▶ Whitehaven Fire Station
▶ Workington Fire Station

Units meet one evening each week and offer:

🤝 A welcoming and inclusive environment
🧯 Realistic fire and rescue service activities
👨‍🚒 A uniform to wear with pride

Tonight was the last drill night for Crew Manager Colin Bell. Colin has served the community of Longtown for 35 years and it would be an understatement to say he will be missed. Every current firefighter at Longtown (and many other stations) has benefited from Colins knowledge and support. Colin retires at midnight tomorrow and there will be a big hole we may never fill.

🚒On call firefighter recruitment for 2025 is now open if you are interested in becoming an on call firefighter at Brampton fire station please get in touch or pop into the station on a Monday night between 19.00 & 21.00 for more information and speak to the crew about what the job involves and what skills you can gain from being a firefighter you also get paid a retainer fee.🚒
