We have unfortunately had the fireman’s pole removed from the multi-play unit at the park.

This piece of equipment is now unusable until it can be repaired or replaced. Sadly, this is just the latest in a growing list of vandalism and anti-social behaviour at St. Martin’s play area, including incidents of arson, graffiti, cutting of swing chains and even a homemade knife being discovered on site.

The Parish Council will now need to seriously consider whether CCTV should be introduced, or whether the play equipment should ultimately be removed and relocated to other parks that do not suffer from this level of damage and misuse.

It is a very sad situation, as it spoils things for the many local children who simply want a safe place to play and enjoy themselves.

If any residents overlooking the park have any information relating to the recent damage, please contact the Parish Council or report it directly to the police. Any information, no matter how small, could be helpful.

This month marks 50 years of RAF Spadeadam, and the Parish Council has been busy working on a very special bollard cover project to celebrate the occasion 🇬🇧✈️🫡

The covers have been designed by the wonderful Alice McKie, who has been hard at work knitting alongside local resident Glenys Cameron and another volunteer Fiona Wilkinson. What a brilliant job they have all done! Our clerk also got involved with the knitting project, and we’ve even had two of our councillors, Jenni and Rose, who hadn’t picked up knitting needles in decades, joining in to help out as well.

RAF Spadeadam proudly holds the Freedom of the Town. While current operational commitments and the absence of a Station Warrant Officer mean there probably won’t be a formal march through the town to commemorate the 50th anniversary, we simply couldn’t let this important milestone pass without recognising it.

This project is our way of celebrating the station’s 50 years and saying a heartfelt thank you 💙 🤝 to all personnel past and present for their dedication, service and continued involvement in military operations both at home and overseas. We are incredibly proud of the role the station plays not only within our local community, but also in supporting the wider work of the RAF and Armed Forces.

We hope residents enjoy seeing the displays

🌟 Back Today to 12pm 🌟

Following on from last week’s lovely catch-ups, the Brampton Community Centre Outreach Programme is continuing – and we’d love to see even more of you drop in!

Jenny is back at the Moot Hall, ready to welcome residents and have a friendly chat about everything going on at the community centre. If you’ve been meaning to find out what’s on offer, this is the perfect chance to pop in and say hello.

🍰 And of course… the homemade bakes are back too! Enjoy them in with a hot or cold drink, or take a little treat home with you. This week’s selection includes:
✨ Mars Bar cake
✨ Sticky orange flapjack
✨ A delicious range of scones:
• Cheese
• Cheese & chive
• Cheese & hot honey chutney
• Apple & cinnamon
• Banana & chocolate
• Classic sultana

👋 Today, Jenny will also be joined by Parish Councillor Rose Logie, who’ll be on hand to chat, answer any questions, and help point residents in the right direction with local issues or concerns.

It was great to see so many friendly faces last week, whether you came along or are thinking of popping in for the first time, the door is always open.

💬 Come for the cake, stay for the conversation, here for our community.
