Heald Green Ratepayers' Association The Heald Green and Long Lane Ratepayers’ Association was founded in 1927. Its purpose is to watch over the interests of the the residents of Heald Green.

The Heald Green and Long Lane Ratepayers’ Association was founded in 1927 and exists only in the Heald Green Ward of Stockport. It does this in a number ways, most noticeably by having its own Ratepayers’ Councillors, which is an unbroken tradition dating back to 1929. For those who contribute page admin reserves the right to delete posts that are malicious, offensive, aggressive or persistently n

egative. We may take further action against those who repeatedly make posts of this nature. This is a community page run by volunteers with the aim of engaging and promoting good community relations in Heald Green. Its purpose is to share local news, items of interest and celebrate all that is good about living in Heald Green. For those who do not embrace the spirit of these aims it may unfortunately be necessary to instigate a ban from the page.

Hello everyone, we hope you all had a lovely summer.

‼️🔜Following the draft Local Plan consultation of Autumn/Winter last year, we are now fast approaching the time when we expect Stockport Council to consult on their final preferred Local Plan. This will be the version they intend to submit to Government for Examination.

We know the Government has mandated that Stockport Council completes this process before the end of the year, so we expect another condensed consultation period!

It is important to remember that whereas the consultation last year was about which parts of the draft plan people liked, disliked or felt needed change, this latest consultation is basically about the legality and 'soundness' of the plan. Any feedback provided during this consultation is forwarded directly to the Planning Inspectorate for their Examination in Public.

Please do keep an eye out for information from Stockport Council and your local Councillors about when the consultation process begins, and have a look at the information in the link below for Local Plan information.

Last Updated: April 2026Current Status: An online public consultation finished on 21st December 2025. Council officers will now take a few months to analyse all of the submissions. A second consultation will take place in summer 2026. We will advertise this when we have more information.

Update on Blue Bin collections!

We've listened to your feedback on bin lids.

Blue bin collections will return to a fortnightly service before Christmas.

There's nothing you need to do right now. We'll publish updated collection dates online next month and deliver printed bin calendars to every household before the changes start.

We know many residents found it harder to fit all of their recycling into their blue bin, particularly with lids needing to stay fully closed to keep our crews safe. After reviewing how the service has been working and listening to feedback, we've decided to bring back fortnightly collections.

Stockport is one of England's top recycling councils and the highest performing in the North West. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to keep recycling while helping us build on that success.

Doesn't the new fence look smart!

The Friends of Bruckshaw Meadow are really pleased to see that the new fence has been installed at the Queensway end today.
