The Ollie Leask Memorial Trust

The Ollie Leask Memorial Trust Ollie Leask was head of Brae Junior High School from 1974-88. The Trust Fund disburses grants to former Brae High students in further or higher education

Former Headteacher Ollie Leask passed away in 1995 and shortly after his passing it was determined that a fitting legacy in memory of his 14 years at Headteacher at Brae Junior High School would be the Ollie Leask Memorial Fund (which gained Trust status in the year 2000). The Trust is open each late Sept/early October for former pupils of Brae High so seek financial assistance with further/higher

education courses they are currently enrolled on. To date the Trust has helped over 50 former students. Application forms are available by messaging this page or from the school - please email [email protected] or call 01595 745600

OLMT update 2022
Trustees met last week (Thursday 3rd Nov) and discussed a record number of applications to the Trust.
Letters for those candidates that were considered to have submitted successful applications will be arriving very soon.
Trustees also confirmed with regret, that once these awards are disbursed the fund is no longer sustainable and have taken the difficult decision to wind up the trust after 22 years (and 4 additional year as a Fund). Trustees are really appreciative of the many donations that have come into the Trust over the years.

This year sixteen applications were received for bursary funding at the closing date (30th Sept). This is a record number which is very encouraging.
Like last year, around half were for students in the first year of a course.
A meeting of Trustees last week decided to disburse funding to all the students who applied.
Students should check the post for the award which we hope will be sent in the next few days.
Obviously the Trust has had to move beyond awarding only the interest accrued on the Trust fund. These days there is negligible interest anyhow and the higher profile of the Trust means more awards.
Therefore further suggestions for boosting the Trust fund would be welcomed.
Please pm the page with any ideas you have.
