Hello my name is Nussrat I am the Labour candidate for the Heaton and Frizinghall area. I feel honoured and privileged to be standing for this area as I grew up in Frizinghall and went to the local primary and middle school. I have 4 children who attend schools in the Bradford area and one who attends university. I believe education is the way forward to develop individual and community interest.

Therefore I am keen to work towards ensuring that Bradford schools are providing the highest quality of education for our young people. I have been a school governor for a number of years where I was able to offer my skills in community development and regeneration to raise standards. My interest also lie in community cohesion. I have done extensive work in this area across the Bradford district. I want to use this knowledge and experiences to make sure Heaton and Frizinghall residents are communicating positively cross culturally. Having lived in Bradford all my life and now bringing up my family in Bradford I am committed to making it the best it can be in this climate of political uncertainty. With all the cutbacks being made by the Tory government, I fear it is going to have a long term effect on local communities and on our young people in particular. I would like to work on behalf of the Heaton and Frizinghall residents to make sure that short term and long term effects are minimised.

The Bradford Labour Team have been out right across the district talking to residents about our commitments. In 2026 we will:

✅ Roll back austerity and rebuild services
✅ Invest even more in our young people
✅ Toughen enforcement to tackle the issues that matter to you
✅ Renew our high streets and public spaces

In October 2023, our Councillors urgently called upon the Leader of the Labour Party to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza & to end the humanitarian disaster.

Signed by over 250 Muslim Labour Councillors, the letter to Sir Keir Starmer & Angela Raynor clearly set out their position.

As Labour councillors elected to serve our constituents, the message we have been hearing repeatedly is simple, people just want an end to the bloodshed and the loss of innocent life.

As a party that bases its principles on fairness and justice, we can not sit idly by as Palestinian's face collective punishment.
