The Mirror Pool operates between 9.00am to 8.00pm all year round. City Park is Bradford Council's brilliant high-tech water feature, the largest of its kind in the UK. It can be a cool, tranquil and misty space, a huge, reflective watery mirror, a bubbling, squirting, popping and splashing fountain display, a brilliantly lit aqueous interactive laser artwork or a thunderous water spout, shooting o

ver 30 metres into the air. The Park’s computer plays 100 fountains, laser lights, mist and water effects like a maestro conducting a glorious watery symphony. Millions of different combinations of effects can be produced. City Park is a great place to relax, meet friends or family and enjoy a breath of fresh air. City Park is a public space so is generally open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. However, the space is sometimes closed to allow us to set up events. The fountains generally run from 8.30am-8:00pm but will shut down in low temperatures to prevent ice. They periodically close for maintenance. City Park in numbers:

* 24,690 sq m (six acres or 2.5 hectares) – area of the park
* 600 cubic m – volume of the mirror pool
* 30m – height the central geyser fountain spray can reach
* 4,000 sq m – approximate size of the mirror pool
* 100 – total number of fountains
* 40 – number of low-power fountains for children’s enjoyment
* 20km – length of utilities redirected
* 230m – depth of the water bore hole

What an absolutely fantastic photo on the front page of the Sunday Times of Kairo in the Fountains ☀️⛲️⛱️

Don't forget that the Pentecost Festival and the Busking Festival are both on today, so the fountains will not be on until around 4pm today, when it is safe to put them on (The brass band and the Heavy Metal band were amazing yesterday!)

The Fountains are planned to be on as normal on Monday and for the week

Its going to be a busy and very hot week and our safety message for the Mirror Pool area is: Watch your kids, use footwear and appropriate clothing in the water, use sunscreen, no dogs in the Mirror Pool water and don't fill water bottles with water from the fountains - we use the same chemicals as a swimming pool. We provide free, fresh drinking water from the water fountain outside of the office where the Duty Managers are based

The streets will be alive to the sound of music this coming weekend as the Busk BD festival arrives

Delivered by The Underground BFC CIC, in partnership with The Diverse Sound Collective, the festival will bring live music, workshops and family friendly activities to the streets and markets places in Bradford, Shipley and Keighey.

The festival will showcase Bradford’s diverse communities and emerging talent. It will also allow local musicians to test out busking in the district, while developing pathways for new buskers through workshops and support network building. Free to attend and enjoy for all.
