Please check out the petition below and help us fight to make Five lane ends roundabout safer.

Five Lane Ends is too dangerous. We need safer crossings, better traffic management and urgent action from Bradford Council to protect children, pedestrians and drivers.

Cllr. Griffiths highlighted the uneven provision of youth services across the district, pointing out that Idle and Thackley ward had almost no council funded provision. We believe that all children wherever they live should have access.
He called out the Labour group who could have voted for more funding at last weeks budget meeting, but instead voted down LibDem plan to invest 1 million in youth facilities.

2026 is the national year of reading. Cllr Sunderland spoke to praise volunteers who run many libraries such as in Idle and asked for assurances that there will be not be any reduction in support.
She expressed concern that there were still many children, especially boys, who never read a book for pleasure. If the year of reading is to mean anything it must reach them.

We supported a motion highlighting the importance of pubs as community spaces. Cllr. Griffiths spoke in favour, but reminded the meeting that pubs were not the only places that need support - places such as ‘Chatty Cafes’ are also important. He also highlighted the risks of pubs being converted into, for example, HMOs and wants changes in the planning system to be brought forward.

Cllr. Stubbs was up again next speaking on a motion about failures to deliver crucial local services. Residents have told him that they are fed up with fly tipping that sits too long, litter that builds up, bin collections that are missed and a reporting system that seems to lead nowhere.
He said that we need to get the basics right, publish performance openly, target hotspots properly and make sure there are real consequences for repeat offenders.
We think residents deserve to feel good about where they live and deserve a council that is visible, responsive and in control.

Between November and January Incommunities tenants in Eccleshill were incorrectly sent letters from the Council them their housing benefit was being reduced. In answer to his question Cllr. Stubbs discovered that it affected 3267 households across the district and cost over £6000! Almost the same amount the Council collected in fly tipping fines over the last 3 years.
