Today's job: a stuck door, opened without any damage.
The multipoint mechanism on this door had failed inside – the hooks and bolts weren't retracting, and the door was completely jammed shut. No drilling, no forcing, no damage to the door or frame.
If your door is getting stiffer to lock or unlock, that's usually a sign the mechanism is on its way out. Better to sort it before it fails completely and locks you out.

UPVC multipoint lock mechanism replaced in Bradford today - door wasn't locking properly and the handle had gone loose.

This is one of the most common jobs I get called out for. When a UPVC door won't lock, stops halfway, or the handle feels stiff or loose, it's usually the multipoint mechanism inside the door that's worn out or dropped - not the lock itself. From the outside everything can look normal, which is why people often put up with it for weeks before calling anyone.

Swapped the mechanism, tested all the locking points, and had the door working properly again in one visit.

🔑 Key wouldn't turn at all — lock completely seized.
Old mortice out, new 5-lever BS3621 in. That's the standard most home insurers ask for, so worth checking what's on your door.

Multipoint lock gearbox replacement
Door wouldn't lock or unlock properly on this job — the multipoint gearbox had worn out inside and stopped engaging the hooks and deadbolts. Replaced it with a matching new gearbox and tested the full locking cycle.
If your door feels stiff or won't lock fully, it's often just the gearbox — not the whole door.

💬Broken key stuck in the front door of a building 🔑 — someone had clearly tried to get it out themselves, there was some kind of slime/gunk inside the lock 😅 Not glue as it turned out! Got the key out clean without drilling or damaging the cylinder ✅ Job done.
