We are implementing a section 35 dispersal order across Bradford on Avon today following a recent increase in disorder and antisocial behaviour across the town.

The order will be in place for 48 hours, starting from 3pm today, and will cover open spaces including Barton Farm Country Park, Paulton Park, Bradford on Avon train station and open spaces in the vicinity of Jones Hill (see within the red lines in the photo attached).

The order gives officers the power to temporarily exclude anyone suspected of engaging in antisocial behaviour or disorder from a designated area.

Should the individual return to the area then they are liable to be arrested.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Charly Chilton said: โ€œWe are aware of an increase in antisocial behaviour recently, particularly involving young people, and this order is a temporary measure to prevent harassment, alarm, distress, or crime.

โ€œWe are also aware of a planned meet in the town today which brings an increased risk of disorder, and the implementation of this order gives officers temporary increased powers to disperse those suspected of engaging in antisocial behaviour and disorder.

โ€œCreating and maintaining safer public spaces for all continues to be a Force priority and we will continue to work to ensure Bradford on Avon is a safe and peaceful place to live.โ€

We have received a report that a severely injured swan was found on the towpath at Barton Country Park in Bradford on Avon at around 9am this morning (17/04).

Sadly, despite the best efforts of Bath Swan Rescue, it had to be euthanised due to the extent of its injuries.

It is currently unclear how the swan received the injuries but a trail of feathers along the towpath and signs of a struggle indicate it was a sustained attack.

The swan was nesting at the time and two of its eggs which it was believed to be incubating are thought to be missing from the nest.

If you witnessed anything from yesterday evening (16/04) through to this morning within the Country Park then please contact us on 101 quoting reference 54260045606.

While it is unconfirmed the injuries were from a dog, please take this as a timely reminder that it is nesting and lambing season, and however well trained your dog is, it can be a danger to ground nesting birds and livestock.

Please pay attention to any signs and if you suspect there are ground nesting birds or livestock nearby, keep your dog on a lead.

๐Ÿš” Welcome to Wiltshireโ€™s newest Special Constabulary recruits! ๐Ÿš”

On Saturday 28th March, we proudly welcomed 22 new Special Constables to Wiltshire Police (even though not all could be in the photo!).

โœจ 17 brandโ€‘new officers will soon begin their training over the coming weeks.
โœจ 5 experienced officers have transferred to Wiltshire from Gloucestershire, bringing valuable knowledge and skills with them.

This is our largest intake in several years, and we couldnโ€™t be more excited. After completing their initial training, which is delivered during evenings and weekends alongside their fullโ€‘time jobs, these dedicated volunteers will be out supporting our communities on response and neighbourhood teams.

A huge congratulations and warm welcome to all! ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you for choosing to make a difference.
