You do seem to be very well funded as this is the 3rd flyer I have seen. Obviously, no cost of living crisis in the Lib Dems.
You point out I am an ex Conservative South Northamptonshire Councillor – I do not deny that and indeed I am proud of what we achieved at SNC for Brackley, the Town Hall refurbishment, Egerton Hall, a new school and a new pool to list just a few.
Let me give you a little history lesson:
When the Constitution for WNC was being approved prior to the authority being established, the Shadow Executive brought forward papers for approval that would have allowed the Council, after a certain meeting length, to vote through any remaining proposals without any further debate. I, together with long serving Brackley Independent Councillor Caryl Billingham brought forward a raft of amendments to rectify what was totally anti-democratic.
The fact that the Conservatives could even bring this to Council (which seemed to have passed by the Lib Dems and Labour Parties as well) led me to resigning from the Party and serving the remainder of my term as an Independent.
This is why I believe integrity and doing the right thing must always trump party politics and independent is the best for Brackley. I would assure you that I am further away on the political spectrum from the current Conservative Party policies than you are.
Finally, another point that I think ought to be raised. Your leaflet states that “Councillors need to do more”. Can I just say that the vast majority of Town Councillors already put in a huge amount of work outside the normal meetings of the Council to make life better for the residents of Brackley. Please do not disrespect them.
