AFVSRs Sgt Smith from Combat Support Wing recently led the Army Boat Championships out of Cardiff in his role as Army Boat Secretary.

The week-long competition brought together 20 serving personnel and Army veterans for a fantastic event filled with laughter, camaraderie, and of course, plenty of fish — with an impressive 721 fish caught across the competition. The usual South West Wales weather also made an appearance!

This annual event forms part of the preparation for taking on the other services at the Inter-Services Championships taking place in July.
Anyone interested in joining the Army Angling Association (Sea) is encouraged to contact Sgt Smith for more information.

AFVSRs Sgt (SI) Kenny MCCTAT has this week, been coaching both the RLC Shooting Team and the All-Female Shooting Team as they build towards CORPSOSC 26 and DEFOSC 26.

Training went back to basics—refining Points of Aim, sharpening positions, and reinforcing consistency. With solid foundations re-established, shooters progressed to full competition run-throughs, applying their skills under realistic pressure.

The results speak for themselves: clear improvements in confidence, consistency, and technical performance across both teams, with several standout shooters emerging as ones to watch đź‘€

A huge impact from Sgt Kenny’s coaching—standards are up, and both teams are in a strong position heading into competition.
