Across our centres, we are proud to provide thousands of people with swimming lessons every single week. But water safety goes far beyond the pool. 🧡 Whether you're visiting us, heading to the beach 🌊, or enjoying time around water, the RLSS Water Safety Code helps everyone stay safer and know what to do in an emergency.
Check out their campaign which has some great advice;
🛑 Stop and think: Take a moment to assess your surroundings 👀whether that’s our poolside or the open water. Always follow safety signage and staff or lifeguard advice ⚠️.
👫 Stay together: Swim with others whenever possible. In our pools, listen to your instructor and lifeguards 🛟and at the coast, choose lifeguarded beaches.
And in an emergency: Call 999: At the coast, ask for the Coastguard 🚁. In any setting, alert a lifeguard or trained staff member straight away. Never put yourself at risk by entering the water 🚫🌊.
🧘 Float: If you get into difficulty, keep calm, float on your back, and call for help 🆘a skill we practise in our lessons every week. If someone else is in trouble, throw something that floats 🛟.
💡 We’re proud to build these lifesaving habits into every lesson we deliver. For more tips and the full Water Safety Code, visit: www.rlss.org.uk/the-water-safety-code
