We're currently carrying out our annual canvass to check the information we hold for the Electoral Register.

✅ If you have responded to one of our annual canvass communications to let us know there are new residents who need to apply to be added to the Electoral Register, look out for Invitations to Register arriving in the post this week. Registration is a two-part process, each person you have told us about needs to apply to register themselves.

✅ If we emailed you as part of the canvass and haven't received a response, we'll be sending a form in the post. Please check the details and respond as soon as possible.

😍More major play upgrades are on the way😍

🥳 Work gets started later this week on a £100,000 refurbishment of Mallard Road - with new swings, carousels, slides, and climbing equipment.

😊 It's all part of our commitment to putting play back at the heart of communities

✅ We're investing more than £4.6million into improvements at around 100 play areas

🔜In the coming weeks our teams will be at Oakdale, Noyce Gardens, Mallard Road, Hatchards Field and plenty more

The school holidays may be over, the lunchboxes may be back out, and September has arrived with some very welcome rain ☔🍂... but there's still plenty happening across BCP this week!

🎆 Friday (4 September) is a big one, with Bournemouth's Summer Fireworks Finale lighting up the seafront. This week's display has been upgraded to make up for last week's cancellation, so expect an extra-special show starting at 10pm. Before that, enjoy Paintings at the Bandstand in Christchurch, 8am-6pm, or catch Emeris Acoustics at Pinewalk Bandstand from 2pm.

🧱 Saturday (5 September) offers something for all ages. Head to the BIC for Bournemouth Brick Festival or Bournemouth Comic Con, where you'll find film and TV guests, cosplay, traders and plenty of geeky fun.
🛍️ If a quieter day is more your style, browse the Westbourne Farmers and Makers Market, 9am-2pm.

🚣 Across Saturday and Sunday, the British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships come to Toft Beach, bringing some of the country's best rowers to Christchurch's coastline.

🎶 As the sun goes down on Saturday, SOBO Beach hosts SOBO LOCO: Sunset Silent Disco, combining music, sea views and a uniquely Bournemouth evening.

🚗 Sunday (6 September) sees the return of Classic Cars on the Quay in Christchurch, 9am-6pm, alongside the Aspire Life Sports Charity Fun Run in Kings Park and Redhill Park's popular craft fair and second-hand sale.
🌿 You can also join Walk Well with Doctor Seaweed at SOBO Beach or learn more about local aviation history at the Charles Rolls Heritage Trust Q&A at Hengistbury Head.

⚓ One of the week's most unique visitors arrives on Monday (7 September), when PS Waverley, the world's last seagoing passenger paddle steamer, returns to Poole Quay. Whether you're booking a trip or simply admiring this historic vessel from the quay, it's a rare chance to see a living piece of maritime history.

🏍️ Tuesday (8 September) brings the return of Poole Quay Bike Night, while Sassenach performs at Pinewalk Bandstand 7.30-8.30pm.

🏛️ On Wednesday (9 September), the Russell-Cotes Museum celebrates its annual Sixpence Day, alongside the latest Poole Roadshow, offering free energy advice and health checks outside NatWest on Poole High Street.

🎼 Throughout September, the Russell-Cotes Museum is also hosting its Music at the Museum programme, while history lovers can enjoy an Upstairs Downstairs Tour of East Cliff Hall on Thursday (10 September).

📢 A new Learning Disability Big Plan has been approved 👏

People with learning disabilities helped create BCP Council's new Learning Disability Big Plan through workshops, conversations and a public consultation, ensuring the plan delivers on what matters most to people with learning disabilities and their families. 🗣️

Amanda Frost, Assistant Manager at People First Forum, Co-Chair of the BCP Learning Disability Partnership Board and a person with a learning disability, spoke directly to Cabinet about how the plan can help people with learning disabilities thrive, achieve their goals and live the lives they choose.

💬Amanda said: "Power to the people! That's what this Learning Disability Big Plan is all about. People with learning disabilities shared what matters most to them, and it's great to see those priorities included in the plan."

A huge thank you to everyone who got involved and shared their experiences, ideas and ambitions for the future. 💜

🤗 The work starts now, and we'll be working with people with learning disabilities, family carers and partners to bring the plan to life.

We're taking action to tackle persistent anti-social behaviour.

We've secured a closure order for a property in Ensbury Park after ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour that was having a serious impact on neighbouring residents.

Closure orders are one of the tools available to help protect communities when persistent anti-social behaviour has a significant impact on local people.

If you witness anti-social behaviour in your neighbourhood, please report it to us. Every report helps us understand the scale of the issue and take appropriate action.

Our month-long trial of higher parking fines on coastal roads between Southbourne and Sandbanks has now finished, and fines are back to their usual level 🚗

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views. We’ll now look carefully at the evidence and feedback before reporting our findings to the Department for Transport, who will decide what happens next.

We're investing almost £1 million from the UK Government's Crisis & Resilience Fund into 42 local charities and community groups across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

With help from Dorset Community Foundation the funding will help local organisations such as Bournemouth Foodbank and SAMEE Charity to Bee Mission, Kushti Bok and St Clement's Church.

As Cllr Sandra Moore said, it's "not just about helping people through a crisis" but creating lasting support that helps people thrive.
