Eulogy
I guess ya'll call it fate
He was curious as a cat
We we both never late
Before the drinking, smoking and experimenting

We would stick along the road
I was a pen, you were a sword
We were a flawless accord
Before the drinking, smoking and experimenting

I was always good in class
You were the tough of us
Never swept one under the bus
Before the drinking, smoking and experimenting

The taste of wild mushroom
Swept delicacy as a broom
Laughter showered the room
Before the drinking, smoking and experimenting

Then I went off to college
You opened a dark page
You went under siege
Before the drinking, smoking and experimenting

The economy got swollen
You were stormed trodden
Those words never spoken
The eve of drinking, smoking and experimenting

First took a few sips
To get you on tips
Ma*****na on your lips
Got into drinking, smoking and experimenting

Your girl eloped
When I got engaged
Yeah, I know you heard
You started drinking, smoking and experimenting

Your girl was strong head
Your life then turned sad
Of the traumas I heard
More drinking, smoking and experimenting

Nights out on tips
To life's unleash of whips
You took more sips
Dogged to more drinking, smoking and experimenting

I heard I was shaken
That you were broken
Your health they'd stolen
In the drinking, smoking and experimenting

I heard you lived in rage
A drunk life on the edge
Drugs had you in a cage
In the drinking, smoking and experimenting

Heard you've faced doom
Saw it on the TV in my room
Drankard headlines would fume
In the drinking, smoking and experimenting

Rain pours as I aboard the bus
You have shuttered like glass
But I will pick whats left of us
To seal your drinking, smoking and experimenting

Grab my coat, hit the road
Coming to right tales of the old
I get to our old country road
To face your drinking, smoking and experimenting

To my surprise, we are both late
You're clean, at peace, in a casket
Well, I guess we could call it fate...

Come and listen to Lucy Harrow reading Pride and Prejudice and read the book along side her. If you don't understand what is in the text - don't worry we have explanations and a dictionary. Come join the conversation.

“Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us.”

― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

"To My Mother"
BY EDGAR ALLAN POE
Because I feel that, in the Heavens above,
The angels, whispering to one another,
Can find, among their burning terms of love,
None so devotional as that of “Mother,”
Therefore by that dear name I long have called you—
You who are more than mother unto me,
And fill my heart of hearts, where Death installed you
In setting my Virginia's spirit free.
My mother—my own mother, who died early,
Was but the mother of myself; but you
Are mother to the one I loved so dearly,
And thus are dearer than the mother I knew
By that infinity with which my wife
Was dearer to my soul than its soul-life.

"Alice opened the door and found that it led into a small passage, not much larger than a rat-hole: she knelt down and looked along the passage into the loveliest garden you ever saw. How she longed to get out of that dark hall, and wander about among those beds of bright flowers and those cool fountains, but she could not even get her head through the doorway; “and even if my head would go through,” thought poor Alice, “it would be of very little use without my shoulders. Oh, how I wish I could shut up like a telescope! I think I could, if I only knew how to begin.” For, you see, so many out-of-the-way things had happened lately, that Alice had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible."
