Today (11th June) is International Lynx Day, raising awareness of the world's four lynx species and the conservation challenges they face. The Iberian lynx of Spain and Portugal is one of the worlds most endangered cats.
This amazing feline family also includes the largest species, the Eurasian lynx, the smallest being North America's Bobcat and finally the Canada lynx.
At the Ark we're honoured to care for both Eurasian lynx and Bobcats, and we're going to celebrate with some photos of our highly expressive Eurasian lynx Echo, from regal to slightly less majestic then usual!

Another amazing success for the Saving wildcats project and a huge milestone towards conserving the UK's only remaining wildcat species, which until a few short years ago was considered functionally extinct but is now showing the early signs of recovery.
There's still a long way to go yet but the team at the Ark are proud to be playing a small role in the return of this iconic cat.

Kittens born in the wild ๐Ÿงก

For a third year in a row, wildcat kittens have been born in the wild to released females ๐Ÿพ

This increase in the population is incredibly encouraging, showing the wildcats that have been released are adapting to their environment, surviving, finding mates and reproducing without human support.
