Since 2012, Leecliffe Big Local has been on a mission to put power and resources into the hands of our community.

We are proud to share our Evaluation Summary Report, detailing the incredible journey we’ve taken together!

From transforming local parks to supporting our neighbors through a global pandemic, this project has invested over £1.2 million back into our streets, families, and future.

Highlights of what we’ve achieved together:
✅ 2,200+ hours of free community activities delivered.
✅ 180+ family arts and crafts sessions and 27 family day trips.
✅ Empowering Youth: From the Friday Night Project to installing the BMX pump track at Meadow Park.
✅ Health & Wellbeing: Serving 2,100 hot meals through the Chatter Table and providing vital mental health support for school children.
✅ Community Spirit: 14 years of dedicated resident-led action and over 50 local volunteers.

This isn’t just a report about numbers; it’s a celebration of the stronger family bonds, increased social connections, and the lasting legacy we are building for Leecliffe.

🎉 A huge congratulations to our Chair Person, Donna-Marie Inwood! 🎉
As she concludes 14 incredible years as Chair of Leecliffe Big Local, Donna has been honoured with a British Empire Award, announced in the 2026 New Year’s Honours List 👏
For more than a decade, Donna has provided dedicated, resident-led leadership, helping to empower local people, strengthen community connections, and ensure residents always had a strong voice. Her commitment has shaped Leecliffe Big Local from the very beginning and leaves a lasting legacy as the programme comes to an end in March 2026.
Reflecting on the award, Donna said the honour belongs to the whole Leecliffe community — a powerful reminder that everything achieved was driven by residents working together and believing in their community 💙
Under her leadership, Leecliffe Big Local supported projects that improved local spaces, supported people of all ages, and built confidence, skills, and pride across the area.
While the programme may be ending, the community spirit, partnerships, and confidence built over the years will continue — and this award is a well-deserved national recognition of a truly local legacy.

Happy New Year to everyone. As Leecliffe embarks on our final few months, we would like to say Thank You to everyone who has worked with us, engaged with us and who has enjoyed taking part in our many events, activities and projects over the last 13 years. We could not have made this program work without your input.

We hope to will see more resident led projects in the future.

🚴‍♂️ Exciting BMX News! 🚴‍♀️

Our BMX pump track has been a massive hit with the community ever since it was installed back in June! 🙌🌟

We’re also thrilled to announce that the Borehamwood BMX Club is now officially a registered Community Interest Company (CIC)! 🎉 This is a big step forward for the club and the community.

But that’s not all — we’re planning to launch our very first coaching session in February 2026! 🗓️ Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this will be a fantastic opportunity to learn and ride with others.

The tickets have now been allocated. Those of you who contacted me but who were not successful, will be put on a list for first refusal for any theatre trips we do in the New Year.

Coach & tickets are paid for - you will only need to purchase refreshments & program etc.

🎉 Exciting Update from Leecliffe Big Local:

We wanted to share where we’re at with our schools project.

We reached out to 6 local schools with a funding opportunity, and we’re delighted to have approved 5 out of the 6 for support.

Each of these schools has received a £3,000 donation to put towards a project close to their hearts – whether that’s revamping garden areas, sprucing up libraries, creating new learning spaces, or whatever else their students and staff need most.

It’s been incredible to see the passion each approved school has for enhancing their environment, and we can’t wait to see the wonderful changes they’ll make.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported Leecliffe Big Local – this work wouldn’t be possible without our community behind us.

Great things often have humble beginnings! We at Leecliffe Big Local believe that by planting the seeds of opportunity, we can cultivate a brighter future for all in the Leecliffe Area.

Small Grant Success: Projects that Lasted! Leecliffe Big Local was incredibly proud to provide small grants to projects that continued to flourish long after our initial investment, like Gratitude, Rebecca’s Arty Attic and the youth café supported by Clarion.

We invested in sustainable community initiatives that built a legacy of positive impact, enriching the lives of residents for years to come.

When times are tough, a little bit of support can go a long way.

To support the community during Covid-19 and the Cost-of-Living Crisis, Leecliffe Big Local stepped up. Providing schools with over £25,000 worth of laptops to support online learning during lockdown, new marquee for The Food Bank so they could pack food whilst remaining socially distant and not to forget our £7,000 hardship funds administered by Communities 1st.

Warm Spaces and Hot Meals! Leecliffe Big Local's Chatter Tables responded to the Cost-of-Living Crisis! Since autumn 2023, Chatter Tables transformed into a warm and welcoming space, providing nutritious hot meals, thanks to The Akshaya Patra Foundation UK.

All of these initiatives show how Leecliffe Big Local supported the community in times of need, ensuring no one was left behind.

It’s a testament to our commitment to standing together, always.
