It's great to see progress being made on the clean-up of Bradford Road Lodge. We know many residents have been frustrated by the condition of the site over recent years, so it's encouraging to see work now taking place to clear and improve the area.

We hope this is the first step towards bringing the site back up to a good standard and ultimately back into use for the community. There has already been interest from local angling groups who would like to make use of the lodge, and we look forward to working with partners and local residents to help unlock its potential for future generations.

It's great to see work finally beginning to tidy up the Bradford Road Library site. Thank you to the council officers who have listened to residents' concerns and started taking action. We know this has taken longer than people would have liked, but we hope local residents will be pleased to see progress being made. We'd also like to thank our ward-funded Enforcement Officer, whose persistence and support have helped keep this issue on the agenda and played an important role in getting the site cleaned up. Together, we're continuing to work for a cleaner and more welcoming neighbourhood.

Re: Free Bowling Sessions at Great Lever Park

Great Lever Park Bowling Club on Green Lane / Lowther St are holding free taster sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend and some Fridays until September to the local community between 2.00 and 4.00pm. Could you please forward to your contacts as we would welcome anyone between 5 and 95 years old to try crown green bowling from the local community? The benefits are numerous. Children need to be accompanied by an adult.

Individuals can drop in and stay any length of time in the time slots and get some coaching and basic instructions. The only thing individuals need to wear are flat shoes and not have open-toed sandals. We have bowls and all other equipment.
Indeed you yourself are more than welcome to come down.

Best wishes
Clive

Thank you to everyone across Great Lever and our wider community for your incredible support in the local elections. Your trust, encouragement, and belief in the values of the Labour Party mean a great deal to me. I am deeply grateful that residents have once again kept their faith in Bolton Labour and in me, and I will continue working hard to stand up for our community, improve our neighbourhoods, and ensure local people’s voices are always heard.

From speaking with residents on the doorstep to the many volunteers and supporters who gave their time and energy during the campaign — thank you. It is a privilege to serve as your councillor, and I remain committed to delivering for Great Lever and for Bolton. Together, we will continue building a stronger, fairer, and more united community.

Thanks again Cllr Mohammed Iqbal and ward colleagues Cllr Mohammed Ayub and Cllr Karen Hon

Nearly two years ago residents on Walker Ave approached us over concerns of speeding. They provided video evidence of high speed cars, several near misses and unfortunately some incidents between cars especially at the crossing of Newport Road. But fortunately with no major incidents to humans, just to walls and vehicles. We decided through consultation with the rest of the street to look at preventing Walker Ave from being a high speed cut through. We agreed with residents and highways on a temporary road block. The position was picked on the basis that there are other entry and exit points but because it would no longer be a straight run, with no traffic lights people would have to slow down or that it won't be as an attractive alternative. We did bear in mind the possibly impact on other roads, hence the option of a temporary closure to review the impact first before proceeding with a permanent closure. We went to this trouble due to the overwhelming evidence brought to us. Plus the proximity to a large primary school. Other options were looked at but due to drive ways and junctions this was deemed the most viable.

Other residents have complained about speeding on their roads too. Which along with a few recent incidents, including one just happening on Derby Street as we write this, I believe others would argue for greater action. This is going to be happening in conjunction with GMP.

In the meantime I hope residents support what we are trying to do. We only regret between consultation and paperwork it has taken so long. But also that the timing with recent incidents couldn't be more pertinent!

The lay out on Walker Ave allows for this particular intervention, unfortunately other streets aren't as suitable for this type of traffic calming. As a community we need to take responsibility as drivers, talk to friends and family members who may not take road safety seriously. Only then can we look to all live in a safer community.
