Celebration time and we come to the end of National Volunteer Week. Our regular Red Lane Growing Project - Breightmet and the HERA- Breightmet volunteers who often work together have done some amazing work over the last year and what better than a BBQ. Some of us have been working together for fifteen years, some much less than that while Anthony has been a conservation volunteer for 23 years. Massive thanks to our volunteers, supporters and cheerleaders.

Down at the Red Lane Growing Project - Breightmet with Jamie Robert. Tomorrow will be hot so plenty of shelter is erected including the paddling pool. Drinks will be available but if coming down tomorrow hats, suncream and water are recommended. We will be heading to the river at the start but it will be a cool walk through the woods.

We had great plans for the day but so did the pigeons who are nesting in the trees we were going to be working on. The alternative was a quick tidy and an extended lunch at the Beach. Having worked all spring and winter it is nice to sit back and enjoy the park.

Interesting weather today on Seven Acres, warm and very wet with a touch of sunshine at the end of the day. Some cutting back on the paths carried out along with the final few metres of hedge laying which should be complete after the next session. We did celebrate the birthday of one of our volunteers but he did turn up today so we ate the cake anyway.

New toy day. After a year in the shed the wood splitter is up and running. Thought I would test it but found it a tad addictive and touch therapeutic. All scrap wood will now get processed, this tool makes the job very quick and almost risk free.

A very warm day down on Seven Acres as we continue work on the meadow. A happy 75th birthday to Francis Williams our hedge laying super hero. The wildlife is out in force with the Orange Tips, mining bees and parasitic wasps out in large numbers.
