Well done to my students yesterday-all students achieved/surpassed their expectations-whether it be students trying to get a grade 4 or 5 to go to college or at the top end with the grade 8’s and 9’s. Really proud of you all🙂

There is a growing realisation that school closures due to covid-19 is widening the achievement gap between the “haves” and “have-nots” in our society. Households without access to the internet or where there is only one computer but multiple children requiring access, mean that many pupils are struggling to keep up with school work. To combat this, the government is being urged to offer money/vouchers so pupils can access private tuition, as this is seen as the best way of catching up pupils quickly and raising achievement. I’m currently offering free zoom lessons during lockdown to help students navigate this difficult time, and hope to offer 1 to 1 lessons in my home again, or continuing zoom lessons(eg, if parents are shielding). Irrespective of your income, tuition is more important now than its ever been.

Thanks to zoom I’ve been able to offer free online lessons to my students during lockdown-they are going really well and feedback has been great!!!

senecalearning.com is a really good site for students to access in the current situation-it’s a learning from home tool that a lot of schools have signed up to. It takes you through topics step by step and has a good reputation. Try it out and let me know what you think.

during the current outbreak please FaceTime or videophone me if you are struggling with work set by school. this service is FREE OF CHARGE to my current students. If you want extra work I recommend Corbettmaths for instructional videos/worksheets or Just maths for past exam questions. Check out the blog section on Corbettmaths for revision resources. I've been helping students to do revision posters recently and the feedback from them is that it's been really helpful-one for each of Number, Algebra, Shapes and Statistics. The usual flash cards are another good method too - if you don't want to write your own you can get them from Corbettmaths!!!
