Hotham Park car park will be closed from 14 September for up to 8 weeks to allow essential drainage and resurfacing work to be carried out.

These improvements are necessary to address existing drainage issues and improve the overall condition and safety of the car park surface.

During the closure, motorists are asked to use alternative nearby car parks, including London Road car park. Please allow additional time for your journey where necessary.

We appreciate that this temporary closure may cause inconvenience, so we'd like to thank residents and visitors for your patience and understanding while these important improvement works are completed.

We'll post further updates as work progresses.

An extract from this week's Bognor Observer column, from the Mayor of Bognor Regis...

"With the Town Council’s Funshine Days now wrapping up for this summer, I wanted to extend a very big thank you to our wonderful Events Team for their hard work in putting together a fantastic few weeks and ensuring everyone had the best time. Also, to those who expertly hosted the vast variety of sessions and to the many families who visited and took part! From what I saw, there were certainly lots of smiling faces and that is what makes it all worthwhile! As a Town Council, we are committed to ensuring the continuation of free events in our Town, and these popular ‘Funshine Days’ help us toward achieving that goal.

The ‘Illuminate Bognor’ event, organised by Bognor Regis Seafront Lights and sponsored by the Town Council, takes place this Bank Holiday weekend, featuring the Illuminated Walking Parade on Sunday evening, leaving London Road Car Park at 8.30pm and finishing on Place St Maur for prize-giving, followed by fireworks from the end of the Pier. The Funfair is on the Esplanade all weekend!

We are very lucky to have such wonderful year-round lighting displays along our seafront, facilitated by Bognor Regis Seafront Lights, and the displays are a much-admired feature of the seafront.

Recent infrastructure upgrades to the displays and columns have been necessary to ensure the lights remain safe, operational and compliant with the latest highway electrical regulations. These works have resulted in additional costs to the organisation, and whilst the Town Council, amongst others, have assisted with funding the lights for several years, further funds are needed towards covering these expenses. For further information about the works and how they are hoping to help fund them, please contact Bognor Regis Seafront Lights by emailing: [email protected].

West Sussex County Council is consulting on how West Sussex should respond to climate change. Residents, workers and students are invited to share their views and help shape plans to reduce carbon emissions and prepare for the impacts of a changing climate. The consultation closes on 27th September. Take part by visiting www.yourvoice.westsussex.gov.uk/climatesurvey.

Lastly, a huge congratulations to our Bognor Regis Town Crier, Jane Smith, for taking first place overall, as well as Best Dressed, at the Knaresborough Town Crier Competition! Congratulations Jane on another outstanding achievement!"
