Fantastic - no pesticides or herbicides in Bognor allotments!
❤️🐝❤️🐝❤️🐝❤️

Last night the Allotments Subcommittee meeting at Bognor Regis Town Council agreed to retain the wording in the allotment conditions prohibiting the use of these awful chemicals on council allotments.

Huge thanks to our Cllr Michelle White who spoke in favour of continuing the ban, backed by Danny Dawes and the other Councillors in attendance.
The Allotments Officer, Ingrid Cross, had surveyed the views of the allotment holders and their resounding view was to keep the ban (18 for vs 8 against, 91 asked).

She will now go to the other councils who maintain land in Bognor (Arun and West Sussex) to request they not spray in our town too. We will be watching progress on this with interest!

We were delighted to be joined by Sue McCullum representing Really Wild Bognor and Felpham and we are hoping to approach Felpham Parish Council to encourage a ban on their allotments too! 🤞🏻

99 years ago, the Cheltenham Agreement created the Labour and Co-operative electoral pact, and together we've fought for an society where wealth and power are shared ever since.

Every Labour and Co-operative representative and campaigner today is part of that story.

"Strong social justice and a great sense of humour" - tributes paid today as we said goodbye to the wonderful Ray Mills. One of our members for many years, Ray was a Labour Town Councillor a few years back and always a very good one.

Originally from London, Ray was a fine session musician - in fact his funeral ended with a great video rendition of him playing the lead guitar in 'Johnny B. Good' just a few years back.

Ray grew up in London, then he and his wife Margaret moved to Southampton where his children grew up. Later on he moved to Bognor Regis then finally joined the wonderful Jane after Margaret's sad loss. He ended up in Felpham for the past few years, before being admitted to St Wilfrid's Hospice where he passed away on 6th May.

We miss him hugely.
With much love from your Labour friends Ray ###x

Bognor has become a vibrant and diverse town and we celebrate the people who have made their lives here and invested in our community.

That’s why misinformation like that being spread by The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) is so damaging to our local social cohesion. CSJ is classified by Wikipedia as a centre-right think tank, and was founded by Iain Duncan Smith and Tim Montgomerie in 2004.

As Emma Monk explains, this study is shockingly bad (link in comments).

It’s worth a read to see how official data can be twisted and misrepresented to tell a story completely different from the real situation. 😡

🚞 Passengers at Bognor Regis station will now be catching trains that are in public ownership and not run for the benefit of shareholders. A great day! 🚞
Another manifesto pledge met!

Today, Govia Thameslink Railway enters public ownership.

GTR – which includes Southern, Thameslink, Great Northern and Gatwick Express – will now be run for the benefit of passengers, not private profit.

☀️⛱️Great news for Bognor Regis! ⛱️☀️

On top of LNER listing Bognor Regis in the top three seaside destinations in the South East, our Labour Gov has now announced VAT will be slashed to save families money on days out.

Great British Summer Savings: During this year’s School Summer Holidays, families across the UK will pay less for children’s meals in restaurants, kid’s tickets to cinemas and theatres, and both adults and children will gain reduced entry to a wide range of attractions thanks to Government action.

Throughout the summer, VAT will be temporarily cut to help reduce the cost of days out and support businesses by increasing footfall as government launches Great British Summer Savings scheme.
