🌱 Grass‑Cutting Update for Bebside & Kitty Brewster

We want to give residents an update on the ongoing issues with grass‑cutting and general upkeep across our ward.

Like many of you, we are extremely frustrated with the current level of service from Northumberland County Council. Despite the 4.99% council tax increase and assurances that frontline services would not be affected, the standard of maintenance we are seeing simply isn’t good enough.

It’s not just our ward raising daily concerns — all Blyth Town Councillors are reporting issues, We are forwarding every complaint we receive to ensure the scale of the problem is fully recognised.

Blyth Town Council Staff are also logging all reports, and we have recently met with Cramlington Town Council to look at the system they use. We are actively exploring ways to strengthen the County’s commitment and improve the consistency of maintenance across our area. Additionally our Reform County Shadow Cabinet Member is challenging the County Council directly on this.

You may notice that some areas look tidy while others do not. This is usually because those tidy areas are either on the County’s scheduled maintenance list or have been repeatedly reported as problem spots. This inconsistency is exactly what we are challenging, along with the quality of cuts, leaving patches, areas around lamp posts and barrier etc.

We want to reassure you that everything residents have raised with us, we have also raised — and more. We will continue pushing until we see the level of upkeep our community deserves.

If you have specific locations you want us to report, please message us directly.
