Blyth Town Council is required to inform the electorate of a 30 working day period during which public rights may be exercised to inspect the accounts for the period ending 31 March 2026.

The 30 day period will commence 3 June 2026 until 14 July 2026.

The notice detailing how to exercise your rights to inspect the accounts is on the below link and is also in the noticeboard at the Market Place.

👏 Blyth’s Annual Town Meeting at Market Pavilion celebrated the incredible volunteers, community champions and organisations making a real difference across our town.

🏆 Civic Awards were presented by Mayor of Blyth, Councillor Mark Peart with the assistance of Mayoral Cadet Flt Sgt Owen Miller-Hall, recognising outstanding dedication to the community. Congratulations to:

• Bobby Neal – for his tireless work keeping Blyth clean and his bravery during an incident in 2025
• Paul Newton – for transforming neglected areas across Blyth over the past six years
• Claire Young – for her long-standing support of local groups and community projects
• Roy Marsh – for his daily litter-picking and recycling efforts across the town

⭐ The evening’s highest honour was awarded posthumously to WO2 RQMS Rob Aldcroft for 43 years of service with the Northumbria Army Cadet Force mentoring generations of young people across Blyth and Cramlington. His children Dan and Eve accepted the award on his behalf to warm applause from residents attending.

Residents also raised a range of important local issues during the meeting, Councillor Peart confirmed representations would be made to Northumberland County Council where appropriate, with further public consultation to follow on future proposals.

The meeting also highlighted the fantastic work of local organisations and community groups helping to make Blyth a better place for everyone.

A vision for a civic hub will be presented by a couple of town councillors - this is subject to a future full public consultation.

The meeting will commence at 6pm - please note that this is not a Town Council meeting although it is hosted by the Town Council Mayor (Chairman).

The Annual Town Meeting will take place at 6.00pm on Thursday 28 May at Market Pavilion

Come along from 5.00pm to meeting community organisations; tea and coffee will be available.

Flight Sergeant Owen Miller-Hall of 1000 Blyth Squadron Air Training Corps has been formally appointed as Blyth’s first-ever Mayoral Cadet.

The new civic role has been created to strengthen links between the Council, young people and the wider community. As Mayoral Cadet, Owen will accompany the Mayor of Blyth at ceremonial engagements and community events, serving as an ambassador for young people across the town while supporting the Council’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.

Owen’s appointment recognises his exceptional dedication, leadership and professionalism during his two years with the Squadron. During that time, he has progressed rapidly through the ranks and is now also being proposed for appointment as a Cadet Warrant Officer.

The Mayor of Blyth Cllr Mark Peart said: “We are delighted to appoint Owen as Blyth’s first-ever Mayoral Cadet. His commitment, maturity and enthusiasm have made a real impression, and he will be a fantastic representative for young people in our town.

“This new role reflects our desire to celebrate the contribution young people make to civic life and to strengthen our links with the cadet forces and wider community.”

Blyth Town Council also extended its thanks to the Ashington Sea Cadets and the Bede Academy Royal Navy Combined Cadet Force for their considered and impressive nominations, highlighting the commitment, professionalism and dedication shown by young people across the area.

☀️ Bank Holiday Weekend in Blyth! ☀️

With a great forecast ahead, it’s looking like a lovely bank holiday weekend to enjoy the outdoors.

The water feature in Ridley Park will be on over the weekend from 10am until 17.30 pm. This is operated by Northumberland County Council, so please follow Northumberland Alerts for any updates.

We’re also pleased to announce the return and refresh of the Borrow Box at the beach! 🪣

From today, the box will be back out under the window at the kiosk at the Blyth Beach Huts and Dave Stephens Centre. Families are welcome to help themselves to beach toys, buckets and spades while visiting the beach — please just remember to return them afterwards so others can enjoy them too.

Donations are also very welcome, so if you have any beach toys, buckets, spades or similar items you no longer use, feel free to add them to the box.

Blyth Live line-up announcement! 🎶

Next up for Blyth Live Music Festival 2026… groovetrain! 🎶

We’re delighted to announce groovetrain as part of this year’s Blyth Live line-up, sponsored by Phoenix Taxis Northumberland.
