The Slade Local Nature Reserve The Slade Local Nature Reserve is owned by Bloxham Parish Council and managed by a team of local volunteers.

Access to The Slade is from the public footpath that leads from the Recreation Ground on the South Newington road.

Peaceful morning at The Slade. Quick survey of the meadow turned up some diversity within the meadowsweet in the meadow. Cuckoo pint, herb robert, common chickweed, bugle and wavy bittercress.

Approx 10 orange tip butterflies were visiting the lady smock and bittercress which are food plants for the caterpillars. Our boggy meadow is perfect habitat for orange tip, it is only the males that have the orange tip, females look very much like a small white, but have mottled green underwings.
