As Mayor of Bletchley and Fenny Stratford, and as an LGBTQ+ Christian who regularly attends church, I am deeply saddened to hear of two separate fire incidents in our community this past week.
One at St Martin's Church Fenny Stratford and the other at Pink Punters, both places that are far more than just buildings. They are beacons of hope, belonging, and community for so many.
To see two such important spaces affected in such a short time is deeply concerning.
I understand that St Martin's Church Fenny Stratford was thankfully able to reopen for Sunday service, which is a testament to the resilience and dedication of its congregation.
I also understand from Frank’s update that Pink Punters has been completely destroyed, but there is a clear determination that it will return. That resilience speaks volumes about the strength of our community.
I am aware that a person has been arrested in connection with the fire at Pink Punters. If you saw anything or have any information, please do contact the police to assist with their investigation.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected including those who may now be facing uncertainty about their livelihoods, as well as all who find comfort, faith, friendship and identity in these spaces.
Bletchley and Fenny Stratford is a community that stands together. We will support one another, and we will rebuild.
Pink Punters nightclub has been devastated by a fire which happened during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
