We still have spaces on our Silk Painting Workshop!

Artist Suna will guide you through the process of making beautiful pieces with silk, either with provided templates or freestyling your own unique product. Your outcome can either be a silk fan or suncatcher.

This workshop is £35 and includes a hot drink from our cafe and all materials.

Less than a week to go for our Centenary Exhibition with High Spen Gems Rapper Sword Dancers!

In 1926, during a time of great upheaval in the mining industry, the General Strike had a profound impact on pit villages across Northumberland and County Durham. It was also the year that men from the Bute Pit in High Spen formed a boys’ Rapper Sword Team known as The Blue Diamonds.

You can watch this unique pitmen's dance performed on Saturday 5th September, as well as explore an exhibition all about the tradition and meet Frederick "Ricky" Forster, part of the amazing Forster family credited for keeping the dance alive. A fourth generation dancer and teacher, he is a wealth of knowledge and will be there to answer any questions you have.

The Big Bike Revival is TOMORROW!

Thinking about cycling but not sure where to start? The Tyne Derwent Way is partnering with Bike Doctor Dave and the Big Bike Revival to help break down barriers to cycling and get more people moving.

Pop to the Heritage Centre between 10am - 1pm to find out more about getting yourself cycling, including details on Couch to 20k Cycling Programme taking place this autumn. You'll also be able to trial some e-bikes!
