Orienteering Harrogate Cup - Cpl Santosh Limbu

The most anticipated competition of the year finally arrived in the form of an orienteering challenge for the Initial Trade Trainees. Held during the Sports for All (SFA) event on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, the contest brought excitement and healthy rivalry among troops.
This year’s competition was designed as an individual event, with scores combined to determine the champion troop. The planning and ex*****on were seamless, thanks to the integration with the Military League South (MLS) event, which was also taking place within the camp. This collaboration ensured a well-organised and competitive atmosphere.
The turnout exceeded expectations, with more teams participating than anticipated. The course followed the Spanish scoring system, requiring participants to locate all 20 control points (CPs) within 60 minutes, with a five-minute penalty for each missed point. Timing was recorded using Emit cards, and the start was staggered at one-minute intervals, with one participant from each troop per wave.
Teams consisted of five members, with the best three scores contributing to the troop’s overall result. Additionally, the first team from each troop scored points toward the prestigious Harrogate Cup.
