Blandford Forum Town Council

Blandford Forum Town Council Welcome to Blandford Forum Town Council's page. Councillors represent different wards of the Town.

The Town Council is made up of 16 Councillors who are voluntary, although they can choose to receive the allowance that is now available to them to cover Council-related costs such as stationery, telephone bills, travel, etc. The town is divided into 5 wards; Blandford Hilltop, Blandford Central, Blandford Langton St Leonards, Blandford Old Town and Blandford Badbury Heights. The Chairman, who is

also entitled to be Mayor, is responsible for ensuring that effective and lawful decisions are taken at meetings of the council and that Councillors are fully informed in order to make those decisions. The Chairman is often the public face of the Council and attends many functions arranged by local organisations throughout their year of office. It is a demanding role, but one that is very worthwhile as there is so much contact with the public. In the absence of the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor will preside at meetings and attend functions. However they do not wear the robes or chains of office as they are only deputising for the Mayor. The Town Council’s employees are made up of a team of 16 staff. We're working with the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust to improve travel links in Blandford - and we want to hear from you!

The project aims to create a safer and more welcoming route for walking, wheeling and cycling between Railway Roundabout, Stour Park and Station Court - the National Cycle Network route.

We would like to hear from local residents and members of the community about how this route can work for you - and you can do this in person or online this weekend.

You will find us:
- Near Marks and Spencer, tomorrow lunchtime
- At St Mary’s Primary School, at home time tomorrow
- Inside Blandford Forum Parish Centre, Church Lane, this Saturday (20 June) between 10.30am and 1pm

All ages are welcome and there will be free drinks and snacks!

Visit the link in the comments for more information and to access the survey.

TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED LIMIT, BLANDFORD FORUM BYPASS, BLANDFORD FORUM

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic [Temporary Restrictions] Act 1991.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety
regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.

It comes into effect on 1st July 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in force until 26th February 2027.

This Order will enable R&W Langley to impose a temporary 30mph speed limit to carry out S278 access and roundabout construction and associated works in collaboration with SGN to carry out gas works.

The effect of the Order is as follows:
[i] To impose a temporary 30mph speed limit upon Blandford Forum Bypass, Blandford Forum to such extent as indicated by the traffic signs between Hill Top Roundabout and Two Gates Roundabout (in both directions).

For further information about the temporary speed limit, call Wyatt Homes on 01202 668266.
To discuss this Order, contact Dorset Council on 01305 221020 or use our website: www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/roadworks/enquiries.

16th June 2026
JAN BRITTON, Executive Director for Place Services - Dorset Council, County Hall, Dorchester DT1 1XJ.

Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Order will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000

💦 It’s World Refill Day today! There are several locations in Blandford Forum where you can fill up your water bottles to prevent plastic pollution and reduce waste.

Thanks to Wessex Water for the refill point in the Market Place, which is clearly being well used from the statistics they have sent us!
