Blandford Forum Town Council Welcome to Blandford Forum Town Council's page. Councillors represent different wards of the Town.

The Town Council is made up of 16 Councillors who are voluntary, although they can choose to receive the allowance that is now available to them to cover Council-related costs such as stationery, telephone bills, travel, etc. The town is divided into 5 wards; Blandford Hilltop, Blandford Central, Blandford Langton St Leonards, Blandford Old Town and Blandford Badbury Heights. The Chairman, who is also entitled to be Mayor, is responsible for ensuring that effective and lawful decisions are taken at meetings of the council and that Councillors are fully informed in order to make those decisions. The Chairman is often the public face of the Council and attends many functions arranged by local organisations throughout their year of office. It is a demanding role, but one that is very worthwhile as there is so much contact with the public. In the absence of the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor will preside at meetings and attend functions. However they do not wear the robes or chains of office as they are only deputising for the Mayor. The Town Council’s employees are made up of a team of 16 staff. Blandford Forum Town Council are proud to be part of Dorset Architectural Heritage Week 2026.
Come along and visit the Cemetery Chapel on Friday 11th September from 10am - 2pm.
The Church of England chapel is the only such chapel in Dorset, and one of the relatively few in Britain as a whole, to retain its original furnishings with little or no modification. The only significant alteration to the interior of the chapel was the removal of the reading desk from its original position, directly opposite the entrance, to the north-east corner of the building to allow the introduction of an altar table. In order to restore this important building to its original condition, Blandford Town Council, which succeeded the former borough council as owner and operator of the cemetery in 1974, agreed in January 2000 to remove the altar and to re-instate the reading desk in its original position. The interior of the chapel is therefore now as it was when it was first opened for public use in 1855.

We are thrilled that Gerald Dickens, the great-great-grandson of the author Charles Dickens, will be returning to the Corn Exchange to perform A Christmas Carol this November!

All tickets £12.50 each.

Using his own adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas tale, Gerald Dickens plays over 30 characters using vocal and physical talents to bring each scene vividly to life.

Dorset Architectural Heritage Week is coming! 🏛️✨

Starting on the 11th September across Dorset. In Blandford, our Heritage Week events begin with the Cemetery Chapel, which will be open on the morning of Friday 11th September.

Then, on Saturday 12th September, the historic Blandford Town Hall will be open from 10am–1pm, coinciding with our Community Expo.

The Grade I Listed Town Hall was built in 1734. Come and visit this stunning historic room, which adjoins the more modern Council Chamber and the Corn Exchange, built in 1858.

Original features were reinstated in 2025 as part of the refurbishment project, and the venue is now completely accessible for the first time in its almost 300-year history!

Our Community Expo will be taking place in the Corn Exchange at the same time, where local groups and organisations will be showcasing what they have to offer. A café will also be open in the kitchen area. ☕🍰
