Last night PC Brad attended a suspicious vehicle on Common Mead Lane, Gillingham. This vehicle was called into Dorset Police just a short while before by a member of the community, the report stated it had been abandoned in the area and was badly damaged. ๐Ÿš™ PC Brad went to check it all out and he knew something wasn't quite right with it. After some checks on out Police National Compute (PNC) ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ it turned out that this vehicle was stolen from Wiltshire a few months ago and was showing the incorrect plates! โŒ

PC Brad got the vehicle lifted by our recovery agents ๐Ÿ›ป , and it will reunited with the owner. After recovering it last night, PC's Brad and Ash have been in touch with their colleagues over the Border in Wiltshire who will continue the investigation, and they will assist them with any enquiries in Gillingham.

Thank you to the member of public who spotted this vehicle - you guys are the eyes ๐Ÿ‘€ and ears ๐Ÿ‘‚ for us, and we rely on reports coming into us to action - we can't be everywhere at once!

Keep the reports coming in via 101, the online portal at Dorset Police's website or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

On the 30th of May just after midnight, officers from Purple Team Response were attending a Grade 1 incident, and were travelling using their blue lights and sirens ๐Ÿšจ ๐Ÿš“ , a blue Ford Focus decided it did not want to hang around and went through a Red Traffic Light ๐Ÿšฆ.

Officers managed to catch up with the vehicle, which had NO MOT, NO Insurance and NO Tax, as well as driving through the red light. Once officers located the vehicle a short distance away from where they first saw it, they seized the vehicle under S165 of the Road Traffic Act (RTA) and it was transported down the the pound where the owner will need to show proof of insurance to collect it. ๐Ÿš™

Police officers with the correct training have exemptions when travelling on blue lights to the incidents where they are appropriate, meaning they can exceed the speed limit as well as go through Red Lights in a safe manner. These exemptions seemed to be used by the driver of this vehicle, and they were not an officer. ๐Ÿคš

An investigation into the traffic offences remain ongoing at this time, but just a reminder that you CANNOT pass through red lights, even if an emergency vehicle is behind you with blue lights, and to check that you have the correct Insurance and documentation for your vehicle.

Police Constable Shaun Fewell, of Blandford police, said: โ€œWe are investigating this matter and are exploring a number of lines of enquiry to identify those involved.

โ€œI am appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity or vehicle movements in the area around the time of the incident to please contact us.
