❤️ 🩷 Happy Volunteers Week 🎉
We are so grateful to you all 🩷 ❤️

🎉🎉HAPPY VOLUNTEERS' WEEK!! 🎉🎉

is a time to celebrate the contribution of volunteers across Scotland.

are the lifeblood of any organisation and BRDT is no different - we rely on the generosity and commitment of a team of around 200 volunteers to help us in our efforts to enhance the town for the benefit of all.

And in Blairgowrie and Rattray as a whole, there are some 3000 volunteers making a real and positive difference to our community.

As well as supporting valuable services in the town, volunteers can also benefit from donating their time, often gaining new skills or enhancing existing skill sets, making new friends and improving their confidence. There are also well-documented benefits to people’s mental and physical health and wellbeing from volunteering.

This week we’ll be shining a spotlight on some of the unsung heroes without whom BRDT wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

So here’s to all Blairgowrie and Rattray’s inspirational volunteers - thank you, and have a great Volunteers’ Week! 👏🙌👏🙌

🪴 🌷 Saturday 30th May - a great day to visit Blair 🌷 🪴

We have plant sales with Blairgowrie and Rattray in Bloom at Tesco car park, Rattray Community Garden at the BaRI building on the High Street and and there is also Blairgowrie Farmers and Producers Market in the Wellmeadow. And don't miss the Ericht Art Club exhibition in Blairgowrie Town Hall.

All that and our usual fantastic variety of local independent shops and cafes 🎉

(Actually, every day is a good day to visit Blair ❤️)

There are really lovely local walks around the River Ericht where you can enjoy riverside views, nature and history all in one walk.

Leaving from the Sir William MacPherson park, walk along the path towards Cuttle Burn and up the stairs (other option is to take the top path and avoid the stairs) then walk along towards the mills.

You can begin to imagine what life was like when the mills were functioning and feel the history around you. Have a wee read about the mills on the Ericht on the Our Heritage Blairgowrie & Rattray website https://www.ourheritageblairrattray.scot/timeline/the-mills-of-blairgowrie-and-rattray.

There is also a good chance you will see some local wildlife out enjoying the fields on your left and some local produce! Many of the plants you will see can be enjoyed by local foragers (human and animal)

To find more local walks, have a look at the local path leaflet which was created by volunteers of Blairgowrie and Rattray Access Network and Blairgowrie & Rattray Development Trust Ltd with help from Jean Smith, Jean Oudney and Graeme Berry amongst others.
