Musical monsters….. dancing it out on a Friday 🎉🎉🎉

Last day of half term so we dressed up and had a day of fun….. musical monsters, wrap the mummy, spider darts and plenty of spooktacular food. Mindees also all game dressed for the day 🎃🧙🏻‍♀️🐈‍⬛

This morning my big two made some cupcakes whilst the little one napped then we all had fun decorating spooky cupcakes and biscuits once she woke 🧁🎃👻

Today was pumpkin day….. we made a little more educational and painted characters from our favourite book 🐘🦬

My big children are so good and understand that the babies can take up more time sometimes so it was so nice today whilst the babies slept to sit with my older ones and make spooky bracelets and keyrings. This was a lovely calm focused activity and they all seemed to really enjoy it.

One thing I do as a childminder every day rain or shine is go out for a walk with the children, walking isn’t just about exercise it’s a huge learning activity. When we walk we talk, we talk about the different things we see, roadworks, dog walkers, different vehicles we see. We spot numbers on bins and buses, letters on sign posts and number plates. We talk about where people may be going in cars and places we like to go. We listen to sounds, birds singing, motorbikes roaring and leafs rustling. We spot colours and talk about seasons and the weather. On top of all that the children are learning about road safety and keeping safe outdoors. No matter where we chose to walk our conversations are endless and the learning the children gain from it is priceless. Going for a walk is one of the most important parts of our day!

We braved the weather and met up with our friends at Playtime Care to have fun in the puddles at the park then back home to get warm and enjoy a lovely roast dinner 🥰

Not the clearest video but we had a visitor in the garden this morning that the children spotted through the window. This created lots of conversation! A beautiful Heron, luckily the pond next door is fully protected!

Catching the bats and spiders 🕷️🦇. Great fine motor skills activity which created lots of conversation about sounds and textures.
