IMO Charity run a Sihat Men’s Programme every Thursday from 11.30 - 1.00pm at Maryam Hikmah Centre.

This has been designed to support men in our community to improve both their physical and mental wellbeing in a welcoming and culturally comfortable environment.

The programme runs once a week for 90 minutes and includes three key elements. Each session begins with a 30-minute educational talk focused on important health and wellbeing topics such as the benefits of exercise, diabetes, blood pressure, testosterone, and other health conditions affecting our communities.

Following this, participants take part in a 40-minute guided exercise session which includes light stretching, pilates, mobility exercises, pulse raisers, isometric exercises and resistance band workouts, designed to suit a range of abilities and fitness levels.

We finish each session by putting the kettle on and enjoying a cup of tea together, creating time for conversation, social connection and building supportive relationships within the group.

At 180 Project our Men’s Cohort is more than a fitness program, it is a supportive community designed to help men rebuild confidence, improve wellbeing and create positive, lasting change. Built around the belief of turning lives around 180 degrees through fitness and community, we provide a safe and welcoming environment where men can connect, move and grow together.

Through structured training sessions, group activities and peer support, the program encourages physical health, mental resilience and stronger social connections. Whether someone is taking their first steps towards fitness, overcoming personal challenges or simply looking to belong, our program meets people where they are.

We believe progress looks different for everyone, and success is measured by commitment, connection and personal growth. Together, we promote healthier lifestyles, stronger mindsets and a sense of purpose, proving that with support and community, real transformation is possible.

The session are held throughout the week at Unit 25, Albert Mill, Albert Place, Lower Darwen, Darwen, BB3 0QE on Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30am - 11.00.

Air pollution is the biggest environmental risk to our health, affecting people at every stage of life. It’s linked to a wide range of health problems – from premature birth and childhood asthma to heart and lung disease, diabetes and strokes later in life.

Where we live can mean we’re exposed to higher levels of pollution, and it’s often children, older people and those with existing health conditions who are most affected.

Reducing harmful air pollution in our communities will bring immediate and long-term benefits. Cleaner air can help us all live longer, healthier lives, reduce pressure on the NHS, cut sick days, and boost productivity and our local economy. Many of the actions that improve air quality – like better public transport and decarbonising our homes – also help protect our natural environment and tackle climate change.

By coming together and taking action, we can create cleaner, greener communities where everyone can thrive.

✅ Call to action: Make a difference today – choose active travel where possible, reduce car journeys, and support local initiatives to improve air quality in your area.

We are BwD!

Domestic abuse can affect anyone in many forms such as:

• Physical abuse
• Emotional abuse
• Psychological abuse
• Sexual abuse
• Financial abuse
• Controlling behaviour

Especially during a major sporting event where there maybe periods of increased stress or high intake of alcohol and drugs.

It is important to remember that abuse is never acceptable, and support is available for anyone experiencing it, worried about someone else, or seeking advice.

You do not have to face it alone.

We have plenty of services available to help you like the Wish Centre and Humraaz.

Our Men’s Mental Fitness Programme is designed by men, for men, recognising the unique challenges and barriers men face when seeking help. Delivered with current and former professional rugby league players, it shares honest, real-life experiences from sport and everyday life to explore key mental health topics.

You don’t need to be a sports fan to take part—just open to learning and improving your wellbeing.

The sessions run every Tuesday from 7.45 - 8.45PM at Darwen Heritage Centre

The programme includes six weekly one-hour sessions, each focused on a different topic. You’ll gain practical tools to build mental fitness, develop a healthier mindset, and support others who may be struggling.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
