For day three of Volunteers’ Week in Blackburn with Darwen, Community CVS, along with Chip In, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership, hosted the Big Thank You in Blackburn Central Library. Volunteers from across the Borough were invited to come along, have a chat with us about who they volunteer for and get a Certificate of thanks to celebrate their contribution to the Community as a whole.

The weather wasn’t great but we were able to move the event indoors. We expected lots of people to come along but we were astounded that nearly 200 people attended, mingled with one another and gave us an idea of just how much volunteering contributes to the communities of Blackburn with Darwen.

Huge congratulations to Councillor Mahfooz Hussain on being elevated to Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, and first citizen of the Borough, at this evening’s Annual Council Meeting. Congratulations also to Councillor Shaukat Hussain on being elected Deputy Mayor. Mahfooz we know you’ll have a great year. All at Blackburn Labour wish you a swift recovery from your recent injury.
